hi guys,
yet another problem my heater fan has been very noisy lately when running
but the other day it has just stopped and wont run at all any suggestions at all ::)

This is just hearsay, but I'm sure someone on here said that you can see the bearings of the fan via the skuttle drain/pollen filter. If so, maybe a good squirt of WD40, if the fan hasn't seized or burned out?

Had similar problem, noise appeared and got louder over time. After 1,5-2 weeks noise stopped and so did the blower fan.
Replaced the blower motor and old rotor was very hard to move. It did move a bit when I gave it 12 V from battery, but I think no lubricant could have cured that.
If you need to get it working for a while, you could try to push it through fresh air filter housing with long metal stick (TIG welding rod for example) just to help it get moving. Don't spray anything at it when it's blowing, your interior could get some coating also ::)

This...
But don't be surprised to find it full of water.

They seem to have a definite "life span" as have replaced several now on each Omega I have owned.
Noise is either the fan becoming unbalanced and catching on the outer casing as you can see they have a small metal counter weight fitted from new,or the bearings just getting old and drying out.
Quite simple to replace although you need to be either quite dexterous or have a regular appointment with the back specialist as it involves getting into the passenger footwell with glove box and heater trunking removed.

Was that supposed to be a link, DG?

okay chaps thanks for the help
I think from the noise it has been making it is definitely going to need replacing
just to clarify what do I need to buy and what's best place to source it from :y

Working second hand will suffice if the fan is toast, but this is a rare failure, and usually a symptom of a bigger problem, especially if it suddenly stopped working.
Gradual loss of slower speeds is a controller issue rather than a fan one...
-
to be fair it has been making a noise for a long time now like squeaking noises and chaffing noises but its has been going at normal speeds
I think maybe the bearing has seized and burn the motor out what fuse number is this on

Sorry to be vague; I have had this problem a couple of times, last one was January 2017. I removed the fan and motor assembly - job I did head down in the passenger side footwell - took advice on this forum, stripped it down a bit, and managed to oil the fan bearings. I replaced fan/motor assy and have had no further trouble. I cannot find any relevant old threads, annoying.
It was not too bad a job, though. I have a hunch that it involved removal of the glove box, but not the heater plumbing. the car was 17 years and 180,000 miles old, a 2.5 petrol manual estate

Fan bearings drying out are most definitely a symptom of water ingress rather than one of those things...
-
If you are not in a mad rush I can supply replacement parts, just waiting for nerve to untrap itself in my bloody back ;D

I concur, and I've never had an issue on any of my Omegas since my first in 2002
