"what spark plugs are best for a MV6"
« on: 07 February 2012, 12:17:34 »

& yes i know ones that work!!!

Hi guys i was wondering as ive got to do a service i was going to change my plugs...

what do u recomend....

My car is NOT running LPG!!! (damit)

there are so many plug types on the market...

single copper/twin/tripple-multi electrode/super4/iridium? etc list could go on....

and Brands... Bosch NGK GM etc....

so what am i better with using as i would like a strong spark that burns all fuel in chamber & gives good bhp with economy etc

my last cdx 2.5 v6 was running the tripple electrode ones...

What would you guys suggest or whats in yours....  ::)   CHEERS  :y

I reckon that all those with a Trade Club card have Vauxhall plugs in their cars, for the price you'd be mad not to.  :y

Agreed. Genuine GM plugs. Twin electrodes will be fine, and a lot cheaper than all the snake oil available in Halfrauds. :y

Vauxhall don't sell triple electrode plugs  ??? ??? Vauxhall plugs have a choice of twin or quad electrode, the quads being 'recommended' for the 2.6/3.2 cars  :y

That was what I thought until the muppet (polite version) at Evans Halshaw in Hull dropped 6 of them on the counter for me last month  ;)
Since I run the shed on LPG, I sent him back into the stores to get the twins out.  :y

Without wanting to derail the thread too much here, what's the real difference between the multi and single electrode plugs? I need to change mine really and wasn't sure if I should shell out a couple of quid extra on cooler running plugs (LPG) - think they were Nology ones but although they were the specific ones for the Z22XE engine, they were only single electrode.

It's really only durability. More electrodes mean more metal to be eroded away by the spark before the plug needs replacing, hence why the later V6s went to 4 electrode plugs when the service interval was increased to 80k miles.

..and all plugs are available in a variety of heat ranges, so it's not a case of getting a more expensive plug. I've found that to be unnecessary for LPG, though. The standard GM plugs are absolutely fine on LPG.

Just to confirm what many others have said, I use GM twins in both my 3.0l MV6 and my 3.2 Elite :y
