Mazda 6 windows
« on: 08 September 2018, 11:47:20 »

Hi all...
Has/does anyone on here own or has owned a Mazda 6.!! Do you know if the windows can be closed from the outside, like the Omega.
I have tried holding the button down but nothing happens. Also, the side mirrors, I keep forgetting to turn them in from the inside. I had looked through the handbook, but its a bit evasive. I also posted on the Mazda forum, but that is like waiting for paint to dry to get a response !!!!!
My car is a 2014 Mazda 6 SE-Nav Skyactive, 2.0ltr petrol Auto.
Any ideas appreciated. :y

It's a good feature, but is poorly implemented. The total closure would be a lot more useful if it worked off the deadlock rather than having to stand there with your finger on the lock button until everything is shut.

Seriously? Both of mine worked from several car lengths away, which is as good as any others I've used. And is easily more than is necessary.

My astra works from around 25 metres, tried it when I first got it.

I't almost like a competition in a car park. Who can casually unlock their car from the greatest distance. And, if it is also keyless maybe some clever car thief could observe and then jump in and make off ?  ;D

I'd suggest most are not several car lengths.  In fact, I've yet to see one that's that good.  When I had my MV6, I went through all mine (and I must have 30+ 2 button fobs) and picked the best 2 for my own car. And drivers side is probably at best 6-7m, passenger side 3-4m.  Same with Zafira as well, unsurprisingly, as its the same fob.

Obviously, the press and hold nature of total closure means the battery takes a hit, and its range drops even further, until it has time to recover.

At best, its adequate.

The Skoda works from easily 30-40 yards away (half way down my street) - I know, because I've accidentally opened the boot while walking the dog.

The BMW, on the other hand, works from about 3" away from the side windows - and I'm not even exaggerating. I'm assuming the aerial amp (in the boot) is toast, or there's a broken wire to it.. I set about tracing for power but couldn't actually work out how the damn thing works so gave up and went back to looking like I'm trying to slim-jim the door open ;D

Does make the 'hold the button to open the roof' function pointless, though! (Like the Omega, you have to stand there with your finger on the button like a lemon..)

My eldest had a Saab 9-3 and the fob worked over quite a distance. My Desmond is the first car i,ve had with remote locking. :-[
