Apparently the Government will appeal in the Supreme Court next week.  ::)

Maybe whoever loses Round 2 can appeal to the ECJ?  :D

Yes, and that will be another week gone, then whatever the result of that all kinds of legal challenges will be made by the government, which will keep Parliament closed until 14th October, when they go back anyway!!

The lawyers must be clapping their hands with joy and celebrating that Christmas has come early ::) ::) :D :D ;)

I've read that the appeal in the Supreme Court is very likely to succeed next week as it will be heard under English law, rather than Scottish law and the difference between the two legal systems will mean that the original case won't stand a chance.....  Apparently.  :-\

I can feel the outrage already from the ScotNats if the appeal succeeds, along the lines of English courts over ruling Scottish courts, which was likely part of Joanna Cherry's gameplan all along.  ::)

yes after 3 and a bit years we have successfully pissed off everyone who might be affected by whatever Brexit ends up being.

What a result, what could we have acheived with a little effort?

Too right Uncle STEMO!  :y

I don't believe the rhetoric that BREXIT makes Scottish independence more likely either.  Quite the opposite in fact.  ;)

If they have a vote for independence while we're still in the EU, then they'll think that Brussels are likely to let them stay in as a continuing member in their own right.

However, if they have the vote for independence after the UK has left the EU then they will have to apply to join the EU like any other country like Albania or Macedonia....

Can't see the canny Scots voting for that, no matter how noisy the ScotNats are on facebook!  :)

He probably voiced the thoughts of many, but as a minister he should be more responsible. He knew his comments would inflame some people.

It's strange......shouty Farage and his ilk were always banging on that laws should be made in Westminster not Brussels. That we should take back control with our own 'elected representatives' in parliament. This is broadly what is now happening.

We are not yet a banana republic with a dictator but as Boris is dismissive of parliament we could be heading that way. :-\

This is true, but the way every clunge and their dog was trying to pervert the whole process to their own amusement somebody had to do something to halt the chaos. Fair play to him for taking that step.

Timetable as I see it...

Mid October sees parliament reconvene.
31st sees us leave the EU.
Mid November sees a general election which will clear the decks of all the gravy train scum and whomever ends up in charge gets to lead the country forward.

We voted to leave, so should leave.

Our 'elected representatives' will not agree to no deal.

We know the people voted to leave (albeit 3 years and 3 months ago) but we do not know if there is a majority in the country for a no deal brexit.....or even any brexit

It could be the will of parliament regarding 'no deal'  is in line with the country as a whole. We just don't know. :-\

My brain hurts. :D

Your wrong. People voted to take control from the EU and give it back to the UK Parliament. Parliament is conspiring in every way possible to stop control being given back to it. It doesn't want it, it wants it to stay overseas. Boris is trying to find a way around or through that to enact what people voted for.
Much of this Parliament (including the speaker) is completely anti democratic.
It not Boris,s lack of accountability to Parliament we should be worried about. Its Parliaments complete lack of accountability to the people that is the big problem.
We voted to leave. Not leave if certain conditions or agreements were put in place. Just leave.

That isn't whats happening. Every vote in Parliament has been to try and prevent control from being given back to it. If they are just really worried about a no deal Brexit, as they claim, they could have voted for May / Robbins extremely soft Brino deal on the three occasions they had the chance, but they didn't. This exposes them for what they really are.
Traitors, imo.

If you think parliament do not represent the will of the people then what you are really asking for is a dictator who can do as he likes. That is really the only alternative if parliament refuse to be submissive.

Not for me, I'm afraid.  :)

Simples...

Vote them out of a job.

Their replacements had better be under no illusion as to who they work for.

On the back of a No Deal brexit, a fresh parliament should be a damn sight more use than the self serving shower of shit we currently have. Moving the country forward won't leave much time for party politics either.

Because that serves no purpose. Brexit needs doing. Then a fresh parliament can focus on the actual job of running the place on our behalf.

Doing it the other way around simply won't work because the parties will still be hung up on whether it's a good idea or not.

The damage from this was done the moment it became apparent that the EU had no intention of negotiating anything. We should have left about a week after involving A50. It's time to move on.

I saw a good meme on facebook today which said that, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Brazil, India, China, South Africa and many others are interested in doing a trade deal with the UK, and in fact the only people who don't want to do a trade deal with the UK are the EU!  ::)

It's all probably moot anyway, as the cabinet minister Nicky Morgan has said today that if there is a second referendum she will vote remain. That's code for when there is a second referendum....  ::)

So much info/misinfo going round. I read that the EU offered T May a free trade deal and she turned it down.  It really is hard to sort the facts from fiction.

As Engineers are the most intelligent beings on the planet, Albs, I hope your Cabinet will comprise mainly of Engineers (I'm one); we will help you put so many of this country's wrongs to rights.  :y 8)

In a new world order Albs will also need women .......to make the tea.  - and for the horizontal jogging, dear doctor! :D

From what I, as a previous "remainer", has seen of the EU they would never have given us a free deal and let us go easily, without severe catchers involved.  I trust none of them now, if I ever did before! >:( >:(

It is a known fact that she was offered that, right at the start of the process and she declined. Ive never heard her offer any explanation as to why she did. Im not a natural conspiracy theorist, but...…...

I would put extra funding into the railways. Then scrap all passenger carrying trains and replace them with freight trains. Then increase VED for trucks massively, freeing up the roads for cars and bikes to have fun on once again.
No-one allowed on motorways unless they pass a test to prove they can safely handle a vehicle at well over 100mph. Then abolish the 70mph limit.
People aren't allowed to vote unless they have paid at least basic rate tax for five consecutive years prior to the vote taking place.
They would also have to pass an exam to demonstrate a reasonably high level of understanding of political issues.
Crime of treason to be restored, retrospective to 1997.
Death penalty restored for very serious crimes, including treason.
BBC to become pay per view.
Media outlet will be banned if they are found to be biased or lack objectivity.
Defence spending to be massively increased. Planned invasion of continental Europe to be kept secret until the increases have filtered through.
Non British residents employed in menial jobs to lose rights of residence.
UK citizens who live off the state to be given vouchers for food, clothing, rent, electricity etc. but no cash. Cash can be earned via the recently vacated menial jobs. The exception being obviously seriously disabled people and war veterans.
Public sector spending to be slashed in most areas. Public sector jobs to be cut savagely. The state to be shrunk to levels of a century ago. The exception being pensions for service personnel.
Taxes cut across the board, as the state no longer needs to confiscate half of everyones earnings.
Is it wrong that Im feeling quite excited now ?

And to think I once believed in Socialism.

AND that so-called "pride" flag that the fat lezza waved at the Proms tonight, bringing sexual politics into the finale of the world's greatest music festival. I disliked the wearing and/or waving of the EU flag, too - we ain't europeans!
I'll applaud and comment on your manifesto later, Albs, but I have an early start tomorrow, so off to bed for me.....

The reasons for the EU flag display at the proms was revealed today. There was a well organised, highly funded group of remainiacs outside the Albert hall handing out free EU flags to anyone who would take one. Worse still, they were inside the building on the upper tiers, handing out large EU flags to anyone who would agree to hang one from their balcony.
The organisers have some questions to answer I think.
A couple of people unravelled a "Brexit now" banner near the end and were attacked by EU flag wavers, then ejected by security.
