Had an earlier 7" version and was very happy with it... Only 'issue' was self inflicted... My unit was a US one so would only play region 1 dvds... I knew this when I bought it but it was effectively half the UK price... ::)

If you specifically ask the seller what the region code is, as stated on the box, then if it turns out to be a US unit you can demand a refund as the seller is clearly retarded. The 60/62/64 were much more readily available here though so should be region 2 :y

This is probably a really dim question but . . . .

If you replace the standard radio/CD player (CDR whatever) . . . what happens to the screen in the dash (TID?) ? Can that still be used ?  . . . if so are there special bits of kit needed ?

Thanks

If you use a patch lead with the head unit only the radio display is blank, all the other functions work as normal.

Shame they come to a point. Never noticed that.

As for Chinese tat, your probably right but the functions out way the sound quality some times and I know Eonon are not an Alpine but they are getting a lot better over the years so I have been told and they are a lot cheaper.

Thanks

Were do you think most are built nowdays.

Most quality brands are Portuguese / Bulgarian or Eastern Block

Common mistake to think they are from China   ::)

But yes - most of the Cheap tat is certainly from China

EONON are getting better?  Seriously?

Hiya
I just refitted a pioneer  MVH-AV270bt touchscreen unit into my miggy
I got it from halfords priced £130 which is the cheapest I`ve found it anywhere plus I had some Halfords gift vouchers so at £100 that was the deciding factor.
I went for pioneer because they have always been trouble free in my experience.
Its mechless ( no dvdv/cd) it takes usb and aux plus bluetooth. Its more for ipod but it doesnt seem to like my samsung although all the write ups suggest it should do, it does charge it though
my single din unit works fine with my phone and looking at the higher spec pioneer units they should also work with smartphones
I went for the mechless because like my other single din units the unit chassis is half the depth but unfortunately it is just as big so if I could of got the spec with dvd/cd at that price i would of .
The expense of getting the rear camera fitting parts plus patch lead were nearly  as much as the unit .
The double din units on ebay do look nice have more features plus sat nav and are a good price but I like pioneer.
I have taken some photos and when I learn how to post them on here I will

Nope, the BC is most definitely part of the GID/CID, not the HU ;)

Admittedly you cant control it easily without the HU...
