what is FV3 on Haynes wiring diagram
« on: 17 December 2016, 10:20:04 »

hi all
looking at the Haynes diagram for later models  . .  section 12 page 41

on  wiring track 174 there is an item listed as FV3     i cannot find anything in the wiring/electrical text that advises what an FV is :-\

This particular one  (FV3)  looks like it supplies the main ECU . . .  my hunch is that it is one of the fused links that sits in the secondary fuse box on top of the battery.

Can any electrical wizzes confirm this  . . .or what indeed is is ?

TIA    Al :y

Correct. Should be a 30A

Ok Rob cheers  . . .  there are 5 fused links  in that box ( 1 is vacant no fuse)   only 1 is 30A the green one ,  the other 4 are 80A & all mauve/purple

Is there a picture or a diagram anywhere that shows this box & which is FV3  etc. ?   :-\

Or would they be numbered from left to right . . far left being FV1    far right being FV6     that would make FV3 the 30A one . :-\ :-\

FV1 (80 amp) - is ABS and traction control
FV2 (80 amp) - is Main Engine Relay and glowplug timer
FV3 (30 amp) - is Motronic Control Unit
FV4 (80 amp) - is to the ignition switch
FV5 (80 amp) - is to fuses 1,6,7,10,20,25,27,29
FV6 (80 amp) - is to fuses 5,12,17,24, 33 (air con)

FV2 is for the diesels

The fusible link casing should be numbered :-\

Thanks guys  . . . starting to make a bit of headway  now  . . :y

Trying to find why there is no dash warning lights when ignition is switched on  . . .engine turns over but won't start  :-\

It is a 2.6  but presume layout for fused links will be the same  :-\
