i have this button in the car that when depressed i tell it to cheer up,,,lol no sorry bad joke, when its depressed it comes up with traffic master then waffles on to safe subscription expired, what is TM. thanx

I always found it useful when I used to do a high mileages in a previous job. ::)

I agree, I think its useful if you do motorway/trunk road journeys. Don't understand whats 'crap' about it - it does what it says it will.
Radio statiosn tend to be a fair way behind with traffic info. And traffic from mobile phones is expensive.

We never found it accurate!
It would say you are north bound on the M1, when we were on the M40 south bound.
It would go, *warning* *warning* Major traffic alert, make a detour, bla bla bla.
Keep on going.... nothing wrong with the road ahead!

sounds like i wont use it, can i disable it, where is the fuse for it and will it affect any thing else if i remove the fuse

I had it on my old Vectra and removed it completely and put a switch blank in the dash. :y

Well, sorry I have to disagree, prior to the TM in my Meggy (which is active), I have been using the Tm Freeway (same thing but fits in your pocket / dash board) for about 15 years now.
I use to travel the country most of the time and it worked for me, saving me loads of time, just wish I had Sat Nav in them days as well!
As for being expensive?, depends which way you look at it, subscrition is currenty £30 per year, thats works out at about 8p a day... would you pay 8p to be told you about to sit on the M25 for 2 hours? allowing you to turn off rather just join the rest of the world?, I know the answer to that one.
You gonna save that money a year in Petrol alone, let alone your time.

I must admit to never having seen the point of the additional Trafficmaster subscription based button on a vehicle that has a (TA) Traffic Announcement option on the head unit.
You virtually all have the option on an RDS head unit, its FREE to use, it has exactly the same local info as the Trafficmaster announcement
And I bet you all have it turned off . . . . . !! :-/

There are a more than a few technical aspects of the Trafficmaster that should not be debated on a public forum especially regarding the intellectual property rights of Traffic Master. :-X
A large chunk of this thread has been removed, (and quite right too), as it was heading in a direction that could easily be misinterpreted by those who are browsing instead of contributing to an ongoing discussion. :-X
However, as previously mentioned on the forum, I have little experience of this traffic Master, and am actively looking for some units to play around with to see what all the fuss is about and if it is any good. If you have a spare unit gathering dust in your garage, and want to get rid of it, or any associated spares, buttons, leads, aerials etc, please let me know. ;)

Must say, I like mine, it's got me out of the sh1te many of times and usually accurate... I'm not discounting others comments..
With today's sat navs with traffic alerts, is £30 worth it?????

This works best when tuned to BBC R1, 2, 3 or 4 and, if your head unit has EON (Enhanced Other Networks) and is switched on, you will hear traffic announcements from other local BBC stations. The only downside to this is that they can become rather regular and somewhat annoying.
Having said that, I use it quite regularly and find it useful.

It's brilliant AND it's crap. :) Depends where you live/drive. Best around London and the south east as many trunk roads and motorways support it, then it's brilliant. Live where I do and you have to drive 50 miles to fine any TrafficMaster serviced roads, then it's crap 8-)
