Bose bits worth how much £ ?
« on: 18 November 2014, 15:42:02 »

Just that - this Elite in my local scrappy, wondering what I can expect for a Bose amp, rear speakers, and maybe the front door speakers too?

Clever scrappy have taken out the head unit, and also sold a rear door, so that would have gone with the speaker... the new owner will then either complain that the speaker is 'broken' due to its incomparability with other sound systems, or will simply bin the speaker, not realising what it is. ah well, rant over  :D

Yeah, as I say - anyone interested before it goes to the big crusher in the sky?

TBH your better off buying a known good set up from a breaker on here, if the Scrapper has windows and doors missing doesn't take much for the cold wet damp to set in and ruin speakers.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking.. I know the setup isnt worth a massive amount all-in these days, just incase someone happened to say 'hey, I need an amp' or 'I've got a speaker that's blown' etc... i'll get it pretty damn cheap, suspect they have no clue it's a bose one.

Just racking my brains thinking of anything else any other OOFers may need on this car. I've got my own list, but there may be obscure things I've not thought of that are in demand, you know?

2.5 V6 FL  :)

Elite in Star silver (not sure if Z147 or Z157 yet) velour interior in pale grey. Auto dipping mirror smashed by someone for fun  :(

Steering wheel is excellent and not polished shiny by hands like pretty much all Omega steering wheels you see now.

it will be Z147 if its a 2.5, shame as would have had a punt on the 2 Diss Paks (DBW).

May have a Rear Blind and or switch that might be handy for someone, assuming it worked, but there a pain to get out.

Got the switch  :y

I was thinking of putting that in the For Sale section actually. I have a cobbled-together one currently fitted in my Turbo Weasel, but that's car's not long for this world, as I get my V6 back on the road, so more than happy to sell the scrapyard switch, rather than fit it, then end up selling the whole car to an unappreciative new oner  :y

Amps are plentiful on evilbay and off here, however, they never go wrong.

Speakers, most Bose equipped cars I've been in have lost some of the sound definition by now, the speakers are all well used. I can tell the difference between the two factory Bose Elite's I've got!

There's so little market in the Omega world now that where the full kit (must include kick panel to amp loom) used to have a value for people wishing to upgrade, there's not many people that bothered now.

If it's a saloon and it had an NCDC Sat Nav unit in it and the roof twig / GPS antenna has a good gasket on it then they are rare, but being a 2.5 it will have had an CCR2006 in it.

How much do they want for the steering wheel???

Next question - is it worth me getting a spare oil cooler from the scrappy? They appear to be something like £100-200 new, but can I expect the thing to go pop on my V6 any time now (it's done 170k+) or is the chances of it going not massive?

Appreciate I'm kind of asking 'how long is a piece of string'

Regular (as per spec) coolant changes and they last and last.

Bits I would consider from the breaker

Heater Hedgehog
Switches
Various nuts and bolts
Engine breather pipes
Coolant tank if in good nick
Pocket full of relays and fuses (fuses less important)
Indicator stalk

Ahh, then this is good...

Heater Hedgehog
Switches GOT
Various nuts and bolts GOT
Engine breather pipes GOT
Coolant tank if in good nick GOT
Pocket full of relays and fuses (fuses less important)
Indicator stalk GOT

Thanks for that. I'll check out the guide for how to get to the hedgehog and make sure I get a full complement of relays, too. Very much appreciated.  :y
