MAMS's Big Beastie :)
« on: 10 April 2007, 18:25:46 »

This is my 1994 M-plated 2.0 GLS, has covered 93,200 from new (and looks it as in great nick inside) a few bumps and grazes outside though.

Recently done

New Break bulb
Inner and Outer O/s Track rod ends
2 new front tyres
New downpipes and Cat

Got a list of things needing done between now and the end of the month-

Oil and Filter Change
Air Filter Change
Coolant Change
Fuel Filter Change
dent repair
Scratch repair - nothing too deep
replacement for under headlight trim
replace door trim both sides

Next couple of months.

Replace Headlights
Change Timing belt (and tensioners  ;))
Possible HBV??
Alloy Wheels
Anything else that goes belly up :)

Why you wanna change the headlights they may be a bit dull. Best thing to do is rub em down with 1200 grit wet & dry, then clean em up with a bit of T cut, brings the lens up as good as new trust me they will look the muts manhood. Trouble they still wont light up a barn door at 30 feet. Omega headlights dont ya just lov em ::)

was just as 1. they're a bit manky and 2. I get more light from a match :) kinda hoped some improved headlights would have helped but i'll give the wet and dry and t-cut a go first.

the general recommendation with the reflector headlights appears to be throw 'em in the skip and replace with the projector type (post mini-facelift) and fit Vx or other "50% brighter" bulbs ...

Nice motor MAMS. A fair list of work you got ahead of you. Are you doing it yourself?

I'd suggest cleaning the lenses and suggested and fit Osram Silver Star 50% brighter bulbs for £15 on Ebay.

I have them in my facelift and the wife's Meriva.  Here's some before and afters

Perhaps its me. Went to Dorset on Sunday, M3 about 4 in the morning no street lights beam on dipped if there was a naked sexy babe in front of the headlights they still wouldn't have illuminated her, perhaps i should drive in the daylight hours only :-[

Pics are genuine and make a huge difference for little money.

Never used Maguairs but know of its reputation and price - try Tcut first  :y
