There's no need to lift the rad out. Undo the viscous coupling (lefthand thread) and remove the cowl from the around the rad then there should be plenty of access  :y

That being the fan coupling, correct?

Any advice on changing the drive belt on my '99 2.5td? Looks to be easier if I lift the rad out :-/.

Thanks

Interesting thread. I recently considered a new Mondeo TDci Auto Ghia Estate - lots of legroom offered, I'm 6'4" - but couldn't bear the thought of my Mig going for scrap, so withdrew from the deal.:D

Sorry, imho, only one car that comes anywhere near a miggy is a Skoda Superb. Had one for 3 years and would go for another except migs cheaper to buy and repair.

Must have a look at one. What is the legroom like? :-/

Its encouraging to hear that others have had the AR25's standing up fairly well. I guess it's the luck of the draw, and, touch wood, I've been lucky so far.

Having had the mig for ten years now, and still with only 93k, it should be good for a few more.

Cheers :y

There is one for sales in the for sale section £100 being asked

Thanks I just spotted that, hoping for one with lower mileage.

im no expert but if its not giving you any problems and youve done 23000 miles in it why change it,if it does go then put a ar35 in it,just my opinion

No problem with that, but I would like an AR35 on standby, just in case. Several comments on here suggest that it should have only lasted a few miles! :-/

Omega General Help / AR35 box

As I now find that I have an AR25 box fitted and have done 23000 miles in my chipped tractor, I would welcome any recommendations for reliable suppliers of recon boxes, as I would like to fit an AR35 before mine fails.

Cheers

Aaaaaargh!!!  I have found the plate and it is an AR25!!!
So I have actually covered 23000 miles chipped to 170ish BHP on an AR25. Is this a record? And has anyone got a good AR35 box and someone with facilities to fit it anywhere near Swindon?

Passenger side, about half way along the box, its a dog-tag style plate which is almost impossible to read, you need to jam you head inbetween the box and the gap in the chassis and you can just about read it  Thumbs Up!

Thanks Tunnie, back out into the cold then! :y

Looks to be an AR25 from a U25TD or X25TD

there should be a metal plate riveted to it confirming.

Hi JB, I have spent some time underneath trying to identify my box, and can see no plate anywhere visible, using lights and dental mirrors. There is only 'GM 55 2 B' embossed on the side. Could you give me any clue as to where the ident plate should be? Vauxhall Garage were no help.

Thanks

Ouch!! This means I 'may' have done 20K on an AR25 with a chipped 2.5TD! I guess I can expect expiry anytime now! I haven't been underneath to check yet due bad weather, but Vauxhall tell me that that gearbox 'should' be fitted to my car. However, I need to get under to check.
What is the difference between U and X?

Facelifts have the AR35 fitted...not sure if maybe they were installed as standard a little earlier than that so it may be that your 99 has an AR35 already...

Thanks MC, being unwilling to crawl underneath in this p*****g wx to check, that it must have, as the perceived wisdom is that, otherwise, it would have exploded by now!  [smiley=vrolijk_1.gif]
