The O2 sensors are the last place you wanna save money on. I bought some "cheap" but not so cheap ones, lasted about 2 months... Bought Bosch which cost twice as much but should last forever.

New spark plugs, new bumper, new front fender and timing kit today, then get it MOTd and put it up for sale.
Oh and one tie rod end.

All done and dusted. Put on the winter tires aswell on top of it.

So much effort by hand when you can do it in fraction of the time with a machine. It wont damage anything either unless you rush it or something, not paying attention.

I just did mine using the thing you use for refurbishing paint on cars with some paste you also use for that. Took about 2 minutes per side and clear as a day now.

General Car Chat / Re: Nissan HR16DE upper oil pan plug question

;D

OK, Next question is which way up it went into the bore, and spring first or spring last. You might need to read a manual to find that out. ;)

Only reason I was asking is because for some reason this tiny part is not covered in the manual while every other tiny bit is in it.

But the order is plug spring and piston, the spring was inside the plug already and the piston dropped out when I was juggling the oilpan off. It all makes sense now that I have all the parts at hand heh.

I never lost the spring, it was in the lower oil pan, only noticed today as I was putting it all together.
Blind I am..

Oops! That sounds very much like the oil pressure relief valve. :o Don't run it until you've replaced the piston as you'll have no oil pressure!

(check that there's a spring behind it too - that may have popped out)

That is most likely what it is! Now I just need to find that missing spring  :y

General Car Chat / Nissan HR16DE upper oil pan plug question
« on: 11 October 2017, 16:51:49 »
This might not be the best place or the first place to ask but I'll give it a shot anyway.

Is there something behind this plug?
I removed it for some reason when taking the oilpan off and now that I was putting stuff back together, I found a weird looking "piston" on the ground that is hollow and has 4 holes on the sides (90 degrees apart) on the other end while the other end is open. And it definitely fits very well in this whole so I think it must be from it but I can't figure out which way it goes in there and somehow it isn't included in any exploded view or manual I can find for this.

What's the import tax like? Sounds like it's worth hiring a van and driving a load of spares down from UK.

No tax from UK ;)

Just sat inside another Omega today, Estate though but still. Xenon from factory, self leveling suspension, black recaro leather seats and even those plastic wooden trims were black in color! Bose stereo with telephone and who knows what else.
It only has first and reverse on the tranny so went to see if my laptop would be of any use trying to see what actually works and what doesn't.

I WANT ONE  :'(

Something like these:

I scrapped some seats like that earlier this year...

Have to pay like 200+ for a set here, if you can actually find any :(

The 200k swap is way too long, they dont last that long. Was only a few eeks ago I did an engine swap to a 2008 Passat cause timing belt broke.
Halve the km for the change if it says 200k or more and you will be fine.
The new VAGs are garbage anyway so just drive your Omega heh.
