DIS Pack
« on: 20 November 2017, 23:19:48 »

I'm getting an intermittent misfire under load while on LPG and it seems like the general consensus from previous posts point to the DIS pack.

So I'm going to try changing that first.

Looking at the ones for sale, they seem to have different shaped input plugs. Rectangular, rounded etc.

I don't want to be mucking about getting to it twice to check if I can help it, so are there any hints as to what plug it will be without actually looking at it? Is it a year thing, or just random?

It's a 3.0 2000 Elite Estate FL.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It'll be an oval ( rounded) plug, check the one on your MAF as it'll be the same as DIS pack

Does it run ok on Petrol? and only miss fire on Gas?, if so, could be a number things, ranging from spark plugs, Coolant Flow (vaporizer), waxed up LPG filters, to leaky pipes, LPG injectors to name a few.

Any fault Codes?, get it running sweet on Petrol first, then progress down to any LPG problem.

Also check for any water or oil in the spark plug wells  ;)

Thanks omegod.

Zirk, good points. Yes, runs fine on petrol. Had it in my head it would be ignition as LPG more sensitive than petrol to ignition problems and ignition components haven't had any maintenance for a while. But should really have more of a think about it before jumping in with a new DIS pack.

I've not checked for codes, but I guess I should.

Spark plug wells should be fine, as I recently did the gaskets and breathers, but will check them also.

Was rushing a bit as I have a mate in the area at the weekend who works at a garage and gets me parts very cheap. But I think I should investigate a bit first.

Thanks for the advice.
