WANTED - v6 ABS/ECU unit
« on: 04 November 2015, 23:49:55 »

I think i need to go down the route of finding a abs/ecu unit, as jumpy speedo still hasnt resolved.
Think read somewhere they have to be from similar vehicles, so that would be a 3.2.
So if anyone has any lying about eating dust, throw it over to me.  :y

Yep, everything else doesn't matter, but engine and gearbox have to be the same, Ive always been led to believe.  :)

Maybe talking out the top of my head....but I put a 3.0ltr one on my 2.5 estate, and TB programmed it down. However, the part numbers matched.
So, this may apply to you ???

Oh, you can Tech2 any(?maybe not any, but most) ABS ECU to work..because it needs programming to your specific car, because the main ECU and the ABS ECU talk to each other blah blah....  but the secret trick (which isn't a secret, really) is just get one with the same engine and 'box and the car won't know any different.  :)

As far as I'm aware... only issue would be for instance, such as myself. I need a ABS ECU from a pre-MFL car, because the Traction control system changed onn MFL cars, to a two-channel system, not the single 'cut the power' setup of my car.

Did it on a mates car (MFL) years back, went in the scrappy, popped one out, banged it in, car was sorted immediately, no issues.  :)

Given the amount of 3.2s out there, I'd hope his search won't be too long.  :)

It does... facelift DBW v6s, so 2.6/3.2 have four channel ABS and also brake the rear wheels as part of the TC management. ;)

Thats fine guys, glad for all the input.
Doubt i can see any part numbers, so can only go on by 3.2 then. Literally looked on fleabay 2.5/2.6 ones are priced from £30-50. Theres only 1 for a 3.2 and that more than triple the price at £175.

They are not easy to see...but if you can get a bit of rag in there and give it a bit of a clean on top, then use a torch, you should be able to see the numbers :y

2.6 and 3.2 should be interchangeable  :y

But you really need the part number off yours to cross check that you're not being fobbed off with a 2.5/3.0 one... :y
