Hi Serek. Could I replace my 2.5 diesel with your 3.2? Mines a manual. :y

No disrespect Kate but if you can't afford £28 for a water pump and thermostat what are the chances of forking out £300 for an engine plus another small fortune on fitting fees  ???

I was thinking about getting a small loan to cover the cost. :y

So your going to get a payday loan, for the amount you will need you could buy a 3.2.. O! And then you need a loan to run it.
  Is it me  :o

Not really Kate,  your need to replace, Gearbox, Diff, Radiators, Fuel Feed Pump, ECU & Immobilizer, Loom Wiring, Dashboard Clocks, etc to name a few. logistical nightmare for a quick fix to your one.

Kate you need to be sensible here. Get a price to fix all the faults that are keeping your car off the road and weigh that up against how much the car is worth and how much its going to cost to buy a car that's already sorted and on the road :y

Not a payday loan. :o

It's not economically viable, point taken thanks. :y

It seems like the head gasket has gone on mine (aaccording to an experienced mechanic) so it's going to be expensive to get fixed. I do want to get it sorted but it's very difficult to find a solution.

I know everyone on the oof thinks I'm stupid, and they are mostly right. I'm interested in cars but I've never had a chance to learn much, hence my idiotic questions. My housemate also calls me stupid for messing about with Omegas so I don't know why I bother really. I've never had a dad to ask and I don't have any brothers so I've got no-one to ask for help.

You've had no end of help, either advice or people coming to help you do work on your car from people off the forum with your previous Omegas. I cant understand why you get them sorted out and then flog them off

Bit of tuff love methinks on this one Kate,3.2's are fairly expensive to run on a daily basis and even if this conversion was viable, and as Chris says it's a no go, it would be so complex and there would be so many problems to solve along the way,the labour charges would bankrupt you and in reality you would probably be able buy half a dozen 3.2's. And in actual fact I may well be tempted to sell you my two if you were throwing suitcases full of your hard earned at me :) This is a non start project chill and forget it :y

Kate..reading these replies they appear to be a little bit harsh you may feel, but as the saying goes,,the truth hurts...I think maybe we all feel the same way about our omegas and that is why we are on this great forum,,where as said all advice is free and help is always at hand....we all at sometime have to face the decision of deciding,,is it worth the cost and hassle ,,,or move on to another car...If you can sort out the cash to re-do this one, then why not spend that dosh on another one along with any scrap value for the one you have,,end of the day it is only a chunk of metal..love them or not.. :y

If I was in your situation I'd be tempted to break the 2.5 TD for parts, sell them, get a scrap truck to take the car. Save up and wait for someone on here to sell an Omega to you.

Sometimes it's better the devil you know and of course what funds are available at the time  :):)might be better to just get the diesel sorted by getting the basics done, at least you then have transport and keep your independance :y
