Title: Alarm Backup Battery
Post by: tunnie on 18 September 2006, 09:14:28
Seached for "Battery" and could not find a thread on the alarm module  :-/

Anywho my backup alarm battery is beeping now!  :(

I remember a link being posted someware, but can't find it now. But someone knew the type of battery it was? - And posted a link of someware to buy them??

Also does the alarm need to be re-enabled with Tech2 after the battery has been changed?

For replacing the battery, my understanding is (correct me if i am wrong)

You take off the scuttle and the alarm backup module is underneath the drivers side scuttle, loosen the wires, then iginiton on /off (do i remove the key?) - Take off the negative wire within 15 seconds of igition going off or the powersounder will go off.

Take the module to bits (its sealed unit so a very large hammer is needed  ;) ;D) - replace the battery, then wire it back up, ignition on / off

Job done?

Cheers Iggy, did a search and it forwarded me to this site:

http://www.batterytastic.co.uk/Search_Data_Sheet.asp?ID=NC-M3.6R10

Bit steep for 2 batterys!! - I guess its cheaper than a whole new module from Vauxhall!

 :) :)

I like i like, no cost fix  ;)

Soo just do as above, key in ignition on then off, and remove the negative wire to the module? Or just unplug the loom completeley?

Does the key need to be removed after the ignition off/on, as the MID says on....

Ignition off. Unscrew one star type screw which holds the scuttle just below drivers side wiper. Lift up gently and you should see a small metal box(the sounder). Reach in and disconnect the electrics. No need to worry about ignition on/off or all that jazz, cause your disconnecting the very thing you would set off ;)

Thats the 2.5, Mark, cant say exactly for yours [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

EDIT: This message will self-destruct in 6 hours. will you be up by then ;D

Pop it round, I can disconnect.  Wouldn't mine tech2 to check if any steering settings (unlikely), and to see if that intermittent cam sensor code has reoccurred...
