Inlet manifold clean........?
Nope  :(
black oily residue
read all the modules ,just a stored code for EGR ,cleared , not that that means it will stay clear  ;D
not lacking power, but i guess the turbo needs replacement if oil in the intercooler and throtthe body etc
(though the pipe from the turbo to cat looks brand new,did not check the turbo for newness)
sump plug is well in and stripped of any hope of a torx fitting doing anything to undo it  :'(
(i did consider removing one of the sender units to drain sump) but no point....
oil filter cover is stupid tight ,so i need to order a 36mm ? socket
so the oil change never happened
topped up (no leaks from the engine )
n/s wheel bearing requires replacement ,
factors never had the air filter

fun

I find the way to get around all of this is to buy a decent car in the first place.

I find the way to get around all of this is to buy a decent car in the first place.

it's a solid car, well looked after ,car pass, history
purchased cheap , so plenty in the budget to get service items etc
happy to bolt parts onto a decent car
wheel bearing ,about £50
turbo cartridge £100  :-\
ariel £4

i'll underseal/ rust proof  it
repair when needed the mechanical items

turbo or wheel bearing can go on a £10,000 car  :P
this car all done will be 1/10 th of that  :y

but i guess the turbo needs replacement if oil in the intercooler and throtthe body etc
They do seem to allow a fair bit of oil into the inlet, possible one reason they are prone to the inlets getting sooted up when it meets the shit from the exhaust.  That DTM fella condemmed my original turbo due to sheer amount of play in it.

Had that on tunnie's 2.2, so got a new plug, and just used waterpump pliers to remove old. Should be room to get similar in the DTi plug area

oil filter cover is stupid tight ,so i need to order a 36mm ? socket
Correct

Thanks for the info TB  :)

I ordered this crap kit for a tenner for the oil filter removal
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5Pc-Oil-Filter-Remover-Wrench-Set-3-8-24mm-27mm-32mm-36mm-38mm/222333142054?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
it won't be done up stupid tight from now on , so the 36mm socket will be fine for future use

I have another sump plug and will get the old chewed one out ,just did not have it with me on the day and did not want to render the zaf un-usable (the hire car went back ,the crapasso is dead)

found a turbo core kit for £95 on your fave on-line auction site ,so i will check the turbo next week ,along with the service, strip brakes ,new n/s wheel bearing .

It's quite a nice ,well built motor with lots of toys , :)
very tight under the bonnet to do work , but i'm use to not having skin on my knuckles  ;D
once again , thanks for your input  :y

Oil filter cap should only be something low, like 15Nm from memory - in bath, can't check TIS currently.

Its one of the lowest spec cars I've had for many years, including the leased Rover 400s she used to get.

I shoved a NCDR1100 in mine so at least I can add satnav to the list, purely because I had it laying around, and the cdr500 needed a code ;D

,the crapasso is dead)

Have the shower of shit that ruined it been taken to task yet ::)

all in hand , got an independent report  :y awaiting response from clutch cowboys
we have to be polite ,patient , follow procedure

to be honest , i'd be much happier working on this zaf than the crapasso anyway
of the many crapassos i looked at the other day as a replacement , all had welded or holed cills and other issues , much shaking of my head , sucking through my teeth , swearing  :-X
so i said ,in no uncertain terms ," BUY THIS VAUXHALL ZAFIRA " even though it says opel on the history  ;D

radio works (had to put the code in the cdr500  as it has a brand new battery )
roof ariel was missing ,but the replacement was about £4 delivered
still gets radio 1 fine till the ariel arrives , much to the annoyance of the zaf owner/family member
(who's over 70 ,listens to local radio shyte, rather than what noises his car is making  :()

I must admit, the anti corrosion used on the Zaffy-A seems so much better than that on a similar aged Omega.  You don't see many rusty ones.

My 2002 model seems to be solid enough underneath.

yes , I was surprised how rust free the zafira was for a 15 year old car
also , disappointed with the p155 poor job opel did at rust proofing my newer omega
i'm improving on the rust proofing on the omega
i will wax oil the chasis legs, cills etc on the zafira too

that intake clog you had was shocking  :o

the zafira has done over 300 mlles so far without issue  :)
