02 3.2 drive shaft broke
« on: 27 July 2015, 22:39:06 »

Drivers side Drive shaft failed on me driving it on Saturday well it was the inner cv joint but I've done some research on replacing the cv joint but not having much luck, I take it they aren't changeable does anybody know? I have the shaft out the middle shaft thickness is 28mm and the hub side joint is 110mm in diameter

Can anyone advise me on what model(s) fit if I can get a secondhand replacement

I've had a look on eBay there seems to be a few

But I'm reading there are 2 different types one has 28mm & 100mm diameter other has 32mm & 110mm diameter? Does the likes of 2.6 3.2 fit each other for talk sake?

I've changed gaiters twice on Senators, now when I scrap a car I keep the drive shafts as spares. I did not know there were two varieties, thanks for that.

Yes all V6 drive shafts are the same and this is the first one I have ever heard of fail so second hand is an excellent option (and easy to fit)

I presumed they were the same on all Omegas, not just the V6s. Was I wrong?

Yep. 4-pots use a different bolt configuration at the hub

Yeah apparently 4cylinders used 28mm thickness shaft and it was 100mm diameter at the hub side
Then 2.5 td & v6 models used a 32mm thickness shaft and it was 110mm diameter at the hub side
