General Car Chat / Re: Can I have....
« on: 22 December 2023, 13:44:06 »
Had my Range Rover TDV8 for just over 4 years now, only repairs I've had are all four central locking actuators replaced soon after I purchased it, my indie is adamant that I will never have to replace them again & so far so good, it came with four folders of maintenance history & every MOT from new it goes in for a service & MOT every August and apart from the usual checks tyres and fluid levels I don't do anything. Get somebody who knows these vehicles inside & out and they're fantastic, for £7,000 I think I've landed an absolute bargain. Would I buy a newer one ? Definitely not I'll run this one till something catastrophic occurs & be grateful I have had the opportunity to own one, on the other hand of course I could peg out before the RRS does..😂

You forgot the front suspension arms, wheel alignment, Parking Brake, Brake pipes, alarm sensor etc that I recall you posting about on here in the past.....

Nice one.

I really need to MOT the silver one and use it next year. Currently it's a driveway ornament!

They are quite useful apps to be honest. I've also got the proper BMW diags and cables which has proven useful when replacing side vision cameras etc

Changed the battery in MrsT's 2016 Zafira Tourer, was the original GM one. Not bad going I guess. Easy job.

Unlike the BMW, where when I come to do that, apparently I need to code it/link it with Bimmerlink/bimmercode. Luckily it had a new one fitted at purchase, so should be good for a few years.

You do indeed, but it's simple enough with any diag tool, the Battery Management System needs to know so it manages the charging / discharging profile of the new battery.

Same on the Grand Coupe -> Fatter and more low profile.

Front: 225/40/19
Rear: 255/35/19

BMW use a variety of tyres as factory fit. It could be Continental, Michelin or Bridgestone etc, it’s pot luck what you get. I had Bridgestone S001’s on one of mine and I didn’t like them at all. I could easily upset it on fast corners on uneven tarmac.  Tyres that are approved for them usually have the bmw logo next to them.  :y

The marking is a * on the two pairs i'v e bought from BMW dealers.

Hyundai Genesis. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310142987375

Or just give it up and buy a range Rover. You know you want to, plus it will be funny.  :y
.

I'd second that get a Range Rover & stuff the MPG.

Assuming you can find an insurance company that will insure it currently.

Misinformed or not, the spin on filters don't snap in half when they're over tightened and can be removed far more easily than the caps. And if you're changing the oil every couple of months, why not simplify the process :D

I've never found the cannister type to be difficult in all honesty and i've never had one that the lid didn't undo on the five V6's i've owned / two I still own.

They keep comeing up with these silly ideas.  They put speed limiters on cars to stop them going over 155MPH.  Bet Tech 2 could sort that. ::)

Don't believe any Omega's can go over 155, not in standard engine / gearbox / diff configurations anyway, plus the original brakes leave a lot to be desired.

I feel mine is slow to dip itself, but still seems quicker than most oncoming drivers.

Same on the generation of 5 series I have, never use it as I think it's just that couple of milliseconds too slow, enough to upset the oncoming vehicle.

Auto lights are fooled by fog.

Yeh and the amount of cars / drivers with front DRL's and nothing on the tail on dusky foggy days is incredible. I coded mine to have tail lights and front halo's (sidelights) on at all times regardless (ECE coding).

Auto wipers have always been shite (fortunately ours are adjustable sensitivity).

Yep, again same setuo on the 5, definitely more advanced than the Omega setup but I suppose that sensing technology and ECU setup is 20 years old now.

Its all causing people to forget how to drive.

I'm not sure a large percentage of the inbreds I seem to meet on the roads ever knew how to drive.

Quote from: TheBoy
And dont get me started on utter stupidity like DRLs and stop-start.

Stop Start disabled on mine except for Eco Plus driving mode..... Which I have only ever used once when fuel was getting a bit tight, I mean, If I wanted to drive an Eco friendly blue / green / save the planet wagon I wouldn't have bought something with a straight 6 in it would I? Knobheads.

Replaced the n/s side vision camera and coded it in on the BMW. Did the o/s last year. I guess 11 years before failure isn't bad considering they are mm from the wheel arch.

Well done on the passes.
Thanks

On the upside, Omega values fuel bills are going up..... apparently.
FTFY  ;)

Hmmm, part of the reason I got the 530D, more profit to be made on expenses claims due to the MPG of a Diesel. That said, I do still give the Omega a blast every so often, well one of them  :-[

but without the horrendous depreciation >:D
Oh, I don't know, most Omegas lost 90% of their value in the first 7 years :o

Congrats on the MOTs :y
Thanks

I purchased my Omega for a good price in early 2018 ,so avoided any depreciation  ;D

Well done on the passes. On the upside, Omega values are going up..... apparently.

Whenever you feel comfortable with. As you probably know it's 4 years / 40K change intervals, anything deviating that is entirely your decision.

I have the same with one of mine that has only done a couple of thousand miles but as it's currently SORN it will be waiting until spring next year.

Seems I need an RJ11>RJ11 cable.

More shopping.  ::)

Should be a BT style socket on the device, plug your phone into that and then you pair the device with your BT hub.

It's just an ATA glued to a WiFi receiver so you can have the analogue BT Jack somewhere near where you want the phone.
