General Car Chat / Tesla recalling....
« on: 13 December 2023, 16:31:31 »
....two million cars in the States due to auto pilot issues. Anyone else think that auto pilot is a bad idea? It's bad enough now with the standard of some driving.

General Discussion Area / Sounds about right
« on: 25 November 2023, 11:02:28 »
Just turned my Chromebook on to look to see if l'd had anymore useless emails and one of the news headlines amused me somewhat.
It said that the 'i'm a Celeb camp had been invaded by blood sucking leeches'.  Surely that's just the contestants.  :D

General Discussion Area / 'Smart' water meters
« on: 04 November 2023, 11:07:18 »
Had a letter this morning from Anglian Water, stating that they will be fitting them over the next few weeks. On the back of the letter is a list of FAQs. One is, "can i choose not to have one"? The answer is a big fat 'no', as they have a "legal obligation to manage and protect the water supply".
How long before it's going to be the same with electrickery meters where we will have no choice?

General Car Chat / Minor roads in Daventry area.
« on: 26 August 2023, 13:29:52 »
Just got back from visiting my eldest and must say the roads around his area are bloody awful. Narrow, bumpy, potholes and the potholes that have been repaired are so shoddily done that all the repairs have disintegrated. They don't need any 20mph limits around there because you dare not go any faster.

General Discussion Area / Indian moon landing
« on: 23 August 2023, 15:30:44 »
Well done to the Indians for managing to put a lander onto the dark side of the moon. I wonder how much of the millions we give to them as aid, (dressed up as 'economic development') helped to pay for that extravagance. Millions of their citizens are starving for goodness sake.

General Discussion Area / You couldn't make it up.
« on: 30 May 2023, 19:01:03 »
Just heard that the shinanagins over Schofield  is being referred to a House of Commons select committee. WTF! It's a shame that politicians haven't got anything else to concern themselves about.

General Discussion Area / What the fark.
« on: 05 May 2023, 13:46:23 »
Just heard on my local news that the shoes that Charlie will wear for tomorrow have cost £3,500. :o  Crisis, what crisis, to quote Supertramp.

General Car Chat / Potholes
« on: 31 March 2023, 14:44:57 »
Just reading that Sunak is 'clamping down on potholes' according to BBC website. What's he gonna do, take them to court?  ::)

General Discussion Area / British Coal
« on: 22 January 2023, 20:42:51 »
I've just read that they are asking the operators of three coal fired power stations to start to get them ready to go on line if this cold snap lasts much longer.
That'll start a meltdown amongst certain members of the population.  :)

General Discussion Area / Shoreham Air Show.
« on: 20 December 2022, 19:50:24 »
Just reading that the coroner has found that the eleven who died when the Hawker Hunter crashed, were unlawfully killed. As the pilot has already been cleared of manslaughter, how does that sit regarding the law? Can he be tried again or on a different charge? Odd one this.

General Discussion Area / Latest M25 protests
« on: 08 November 2022, 13:48:55 »
Why don't the authorities just leave the buggers up there on the gantries? They'll come down when they're cold, tired or hungry enough.  :D

General Discussion Area / Jubilee arrests
« on: 02 June 2022, 18:21:07 »
Happened to see the AOL news headlines when i turned the laptop on earlier. The police were reported to have "quickly" arrested some protesters who were trying to disrupt the proceedings. They certainly moved a damn sight quicker than when those idiots were gluing themselves to the road during the fuel protests.  ::)
