Omega General Help / Engine dating for emissions!
« on: 15 July 2014, 12:49:40 »
I have to verify the date of manufacture for my kit car engine to enable emissions testing at the appropriate level!

Engine code is 08360383, car has been scrapped a couple of years ago.

Has anyone contacted Vauxhall to get this information?

Omega General Help / Who does cambelt changes now?
« on: 04 February 2014, 20:23:58 »
Been a while, I need to change the cambelt on the kit car before I move on with it (2 year hiatus)

I have the new cambelt kit and need either, to borrow a locking kit or part with beer tokens for someone else to change it for me.

Engine is already stripped.

Any offers to assist, please pm.

Thanks

Maintenance Guides / How to remove cloth seat, heater pads
« on: 19 October 2007, 22:53:30 »
Right, As I have a spare seat I thought I would strip it down to remove the heater pad.
Feel free to comment and if it makes sense an Admin might put it into the HOW tO section.

With the seat out, remove the 2 phillips screws at the bottom of the back panel and take it off.

Remove the 2 push in retainers on the cloth tabs holding the bottom of the backrest cushion to the frame

using 2 flat blade screwdrivers, push the headrest socket retaining tabs in to release the socket

Wind the seat back halfway, unclip the backrest cloth and strip off the backrest cushion and cover from the frame. Disconnect the plug on the side of the frame that connects the seat and backrest heater pads.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Where is plug "X0"
« on: 01 June 2011, 21:52:53 »
I am tracing a few wires and deciding if I need them in the kit car.

Engine is a 1998 3.0ltr

I have a Brown/white 0.75 wire from pin 55 on the ecu (track 247), goes to plug "X3", then leaves and goes to pin 7 on plug "X0".

I have the wire at X3.

Do I need it further down the line or can I terminate it?

Any help appreciated.  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Diagnostic socket wiring
« on: 17 February 2010, 23:01:23 »
I have looked at the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual and I can not see the diagnostic socket.

As some people are aware, I have a 3.0 ltr engine in a kit car, the ECU & fuel relays are still connected and will be running in it's standard form.

Is the any mileage in having the diagnostic socket wired up?

Which wires come from the socket?

I have 2 multi pin plugs connected to the engine, Brown & white.

I have traced & labelled most of the wires to/from various sensors.

thoughts & suggestions

Q2. If not which ones do I connect to?

Q3. Have I got an earlier loom, as the wire colours are different?

Thanks

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Heated seat wiring
« on: 03 September 2006, 13:54:51 »
Stripped out the centre console to check the wiring to fit my heated seats,

There are some wires taped up, so thinks I've got a chance
  :)

Then checked the "Haynes book of lies" and found the correct wire colours are taped up

but the switches have teminal Nos 1,2,3,4 (5 no connector pin)

Haynes quote terminals 1,2,4,5 for both the early and later models

Anyone got any info of experience in this area

Omega General Help / Aux belt length
« on: 20 November 2010, 21:27:16 »
This relates to my Robin Hood kitcar build.

I have a 3.0ltr V6 that I have removed the power steering & air con units, I have installed a 45 Amp Bedford Rascal alternator where the steering pump was and now need a 690mm long aux belt.

How long is the non aircon aux belt?

Anyone got a industry book with measurements in?

Any info appreciated.

Omega General Help / Cam locking tool 2.0 v 2.2
« on: 13 August 2010, 17:36:04 »
I have a cam locking wedge that was used for changing the cambelt on my old 2.0 ltr car.

Is the 2.2 ltr engine the same unit but overbored to get the extra capcity, therefore the cam wedge will be ok for this engine as well or do I need a different tool?

Omega General Help / Fuel level resistance
« on: 05 March 2010, 22:27:53 »
I am now looking at the fuel level gauge for my kit car!

Does anyone know the resistance reading range for the Omega level sender unit?

The gauge I am looking at is an ETB unit which is looking for a range of 260 Ohms (empty) to 20 Ohms (full)

the alteranative is 10 Ohms (empty) and 180 Ohms (full), for VDO level senders!!!

if anyone has a unit out of the tank, can they do a quick reading.   :y

Omega General Help / Engine stutter & EML on!
« on: 04 August 2009, 23:40:38 »
Been driving for a few days with a bit of a silly problem.

2000 "W" 2.0 ltr 16 valve auto

driving along, engine stutters, but not stalls, picks up again. Few second later  the EML comes on.

immediate sensation is the pickup is rough but not trying to die off at all.

If I pull up and restart the engine the issue dissappears for an indeterminate period.

There is currently a small oil leak from the front of the bell housing, definitely ATF. will check the level at the weekend)

The issue MAY be linked to the gear change 1st to 2nd

Only 0335 (Incorrect RPM Signal ) logged when paper clipping. (with the engine off)

suggestions appreciated.
