^ The inevitable consequence of said fault.  You did well to ditch it!  :(

No you don't, unless you have a galactic influence denied to the rest of us mere mortals. You could have had the extra hour last week, or any day, by adjusting your personal waking/sleeping hours, if you so chose.

Ron.

Alright boss I'm coming into work at 8am and going home at 4pm this summer. You nutcase  ::)

It's GMT in the winter that's bullshit not BST.

General Car Chat / Re: Sized up the BMW's replacement
« on: 26 March 2017, 21:35:58 »
Took a trip out this afternoon to see what could be done about the BMW's replacement and ended up at the Volvo dealership.  :o

I took a test drive in a V60 "estate" (read reasonably generous hatchback) and was really really inpressed. The seats are the comfiest I have ever say in in a car and the refinement was excellent. Then the subject of discounts came up.

It turns out they do a rather nice deal if you're a chartered accountant (bizarre I know) which amounted to about £6k off the list price - which is about what online comparisons would give you, 3yrs/54k free servicing, free metallic paint, free extended warranty to 5yrs/100k.  :)

I haven't signed on the dotted line yet but tbh I think it's more or less a foregone conclusion  :y

Also saves. 50page thread discussing the options :P
PS. I did some working out and even driving nearly 30k a year, the tax on company cars is just too draconian.

Have you done the carwow.co.uk thing on it? Sometimes it gets you 25%+ off list from some desperate to sell car dealer in Hull...

Edited to add :  and that ^ is bullshit.

Andy c will snap that up  ;)

You could snap it just looking at it is so rustic  :)

A copper jumped into the water to save a drowning man? Such heroism.  ::)

Not just any old copper.  A Police diver no less.  Like for actual water n shit.  It's almost like we've collectively paid for a service and someone is actually benefitting from that service.  ::)

Somewhat ignoring the point that it wasn't the charger that killed him. It was the extension lead. But let's not let facts get in the way of a good opportunity to mention a brand name.  ::)

Seeing how there is mains leccy in the charger.....whos to know if water in the charger didn't kill him or the extension lead...so it could have been the charger as it was obviously plugged into the extension lead..... ;)

But either way....you just effing dumb if you take an electrical device into the bath that's plugged into the mains..... ::)

The mains side of the transformer is within two inches of the extension lead socket... if that's in the water the socket is not far behind and falling... Nothing to do with Apple.  Bit like saying John Doe was killed in a collision with a pink teddy bear... (which was strapped to the front of a bin lorry doing 50mph... but don't mention that.. it was all the teddy bear's doing)  ::)

I noticed this morning that the UK has sent 100 troops to Estonia to deter the Russians from any hanky panky on the border there. Of course, it's more of a political move than a military one, they could not do anything about an advancing Russian force. But, if NATO soldiers were harmed, that would mean the whole of Europe getting involved, plus America.
But would it?
Trump has been vociferous lately about the lack of money that other NATO members pay in, and he flatly refused to shake hands with Merkel yesterday.
Add in the inference of contact with the Russians during the presidential campaign and the claims of Russian interference in the election. Trump may just sit on his hands if anything kicked off in Eastern Europe, he has no fondness, even interest, in anything other than America.

Just a thought....... that's all.

Bet Rods can do better  ;D

B

Not quite true. He didn't shake hands a second time :P

Why on earth are you taking a 16yr old car to a main dealer???  ???

Of course they're going to tell you it's knackered so that you go and buy a new Viva  ::)

...says Nick W...  and rightly so... he did.

The best way of splitting tapers is as he correctly postulated is with two large hammers.

Thanks for showing me the path of righteousness on handling balls  ;D :y

Round here you still need locking nuts/bolts after all it was only last year that someone nicked two of the centre caps off the wheels of my Omega >:(

Yeah cos making off with 4 alloys, a trolley jack and a wheel brace is just as easy as making off with a screwdriver and two plastic caps.  :P

If none of the above work try a lump hammer and a chisel. I had similar with an Omega locking nut last year(much more recessed) and tried everything. In the end a hammer & chisel got it turning.
Also may be worth drilling through the centre first to weaken its grip.

This worked a treat.  30 - 45 seconds on each one saw it loose. Thanks for all the suggestions.  So much more rewarding to solve a problem for free rather than paying the inventor of the problem more money!  :y

I will PM you my address so you can send the cigar. A nice big Cuban one will do nicely.  :y ;D

I hope that's not a euphemism squire  :o  :)
