The centre console continues into the foot well. It locates on a bracket. Lift it up as far as you can to clear the brackey vertically, then pull it towards you a couple of inches to clear the bracket horizontally then push it down to allow access.

This assumes you are working from the drivers footwell/door, refers to the forward end of the centre console and might also require the removal of the panel above the pedals (three clips and pull) :y

I've found the motor now.. Behind it is a brass coloured rod that appeared to be loose and bent into a shape around something that shouldn't be connected to the heater set up... How does this rod connect to the silver coloured motor? Assuming it does??is there an image on here for me to look at?

Yes you can balls it up  ;D :y

If you mix the pipes up then it bypasses the matrix when you want heat and passes coolant through it when you want cooling.  :y

Bloody hell I shall have a look at that tomorrow then... I did fit it myself so there's every chance I could hash things up... If the pipes to the HBV are wrong would it be blatantly obvious?

Just pull the vac pipe off the top of the HBV to see if that makes a difference.

If so, you need to investigate the vac system.

If I have plumbed it in wrong it still won't work untill I find out where that metal rod hanging behind the motor solenoid goes..

Can anyone tell me what the " rod" looks like that attaches to the drivers heater solenoid in the foot well? Think this has been interfered with before but not sure what I need to re fit it?

Should be a plastic arm assuming facelift...

Clear the decks, ignition on, climate panel to LO, reattach arm, then get an assistant switch driverside to HI. You should see the arm move verticallyish down... if it doesn't move it's not attached :y

Well that explains it then... I don't have a plastic rod ( yes it is a facelift) I have a length of steel rod that's attached to the flap at the top and I can hear the flap open and close when pulling on the rod but its not attached to anything at the bottom just bent around a lug.... The heater has been played with before... Can I buy a replacement rod??

And what does the arm attach to ? I can see the silver coloured motor but how does it fit to it?

Just a simple ball and socket joint :y

Set heater to LO and you should see the plastic arm... might need to pull the cover off the servo if it isn't visible (might have pivoted around behind it)

Rod then locates in the other end of the plastic arm :y

To answer 1 of your questions, the HBV needs a vacuum pipe attached to it to work... When using the heater, the system makes magic happen and tells the HBV vacuum pipe to become vacuum'd and thus activating the HBV :)  :y

I know nothing about the brass rod attached to the silvery thingmajigger you have found under the dashboard :)  :y

Turns out the brass rod thingy is a bodge job from previous owner as the plastic rod that should be there ain't... Bottom half of the rod is bent around something just to keep flap above open.... I van source a replacement solenoid nut I will struggle with getting an arm... ( unless there's a part number for it??)

Might be wise to acquire the servo, complete with arm :-\
