Well done on the Bike MOT....Just had my GSXR600 done a week or so ago and the ELITE flew through its MOT today. 8-)

Fancied a ZX10 for years now or possibly an older CBR1000...dont like the small modern mickey mouse bikes they make now days.

Well I had a bit of a shocker this morning!!

I knew that my MOT was imminent, so I consulted my folder of documents only to find that the MOT had in fact officially run out a month ago!!! ( It was actuallytwo days ago, but the muppets got the month wrong on the copy doc' they supplied me and put June and not July on the computerised copy!!!)

Anyway, a mad rush ensued trying to find someone to MOT the MV6 in a hurry and wouldn't you know it, everyone and their aunty is on holiday!! Possibly the UK's busiest time historically for MOT's and they're all off in Marbella!!

Anyway, I eventually found one who saw me straight away and passed the beast only telling me that I could really use a new near side window wiper. PHEW!!!

Well, No MoT would have got u a form to get one from the police unless there were other offences in conjunction - an important doc yes but thankfully treated with common sense.Glad u got sorted!

not strictly true although I do not spend my life reading policy wordings.

I think they say if not in a roadworthy condition which of course tends to mean have you got a MOT.

If not what tends to happen is that they reduce the settlement figure on a theft or the value of vehicle when assessing whether to repair.

Bottom line is they will use every trick in the book to reduce the payment made. Knocking back a claim unless they are pretty sure tends to attract bad publicity so they are a bit crafty.

I am sure eveyone one of us have had a bad experience

One of my old policies definatly said it was only valid with MOT, can't remember which company, probably Directline.

Direct Line - says it all really.

anyone is perfectly entitled to insure a car that is not used on the road, laid up vehicle for example - therefore a mot does not have to be a requirement,
hence I would suspect that any insurer would find it very difficult to uphold that part of their policy wording in a court of law as being reasonable if the cars use was not being used on the road.

hang on I am getting carried away here on something not worth it, sorry  'the boy' - stop it bernie, just cut to the chase - Dont you just hate insurance anyway?

one of the neccessary evils
