I don't know about others on here, but what worries me about those 'historic' pictures of the East End is that I not only remember those times when I visited my Grandmother, but I can go back earlier to the late 1950's and still see the horse drawn transport travelling along the roads.  Brewery drays, milk carts, rag and bone men carts, coal merchants wagons, and other miscellaneous carts could be seen daily.

Now that is 60/61 years ago and that is scary!!

However . .

Some of the cars have "G" plates. If I remember correctly that was 1969, I know that I had an "F" Hillman which was '68

And what about those Scammel lorries that worked out of BR Goods Depots? Designed to have a turning circle the equal of a horse-drawn wagon.
And my grandad, who loved his roses, running out with bucket and shovel after the milkman's horse had been.....

Back in the 70's , a friend from Stoke on Trent called Danny Owens had among other cars, a Triumph Herald. He used to sharpen up his reactions for rallying by driving fast at night without his lights on. Anyone know him now?
