Bonnet release cable removal
« on: 30 March 2018, 11:53:41 »

I'm struggling to remove the bonnet release cable lever in the cabin foot well.  :-[
Does anyone have any knowledge on how to remove it.
It looks to me like it has a lug or two that holds it in place. I'm trying to force it towards the rear of the car as it looks like it might slide that way...?

Cant remember if it has to go towards the front or rear, but the handle should have a slot for the cable to come out of when yo line it up, just like an old bicycle brake cable. A torch will help as its rather dark down there.  ;)
PM incoming.

Thanks mate....actually I have just done it.  ;)
I was right, it does slide towards the back of the car.
The cable was already out but I'm told the new one I have on order is a complete unit...although the cable does come out of the lever like you said,
it also runs through a sleeve which is an integral part of the lever; which means you have to remove the lever too.  :y

Havnt had the need to remove my omega one yet as its working fine but if its a similar design to the early carltons and senators they rely on a centre plastic pivot which eventually slips out as the sides splay open with age and repated use.a basically flimsy design which can be fixed once and for all by drilling the entire pivot and sides out and putting a nut and bolt through.but like i say im not sure if the omega is the same flimsy design ?
