Kevin, I am sorry to disagree with you on this as I was told by the police that in the absence of injury, they do not want to know:-

How would they know if no one was injured if they just drove off?

I suppose in the case of dave the builders brother the police would view this as a very minor incident and without witness corroboration it would become a case of he said/she said as to cause and blame.

Sorry, but if nobody was hurt, reporting an accident is not obligatory. One of the many ways in which the police are not looking after us!  :(

Ron.

Leaving the scene is still an offence, however. Clearly not as important as someone driving at 30.00013145 miles per hour somewhere... ::)

Not to mention that when I tried, I discovered that all the police stations are closed at the weekend... but the accident needed to be reported within 24hrs complete with paperwork presented.

I think the main one in the middle of town might have been open 9-1, on a Sunday.

Yes, but that's not what I said. It is an offence to leave the scene of an accident where damage to property or injury has been caused, or to fail to report it to the Police within 24 hours.

You are correct that it's not necessary to contact the Police if no injury has been caused.

However, in a situation where someone has committed a criminal offence, the Police should be interested. (but won't as we all know)
