WANTED: AR35 Autobox
« on: 14 August 2018, 20:26:22 »

Hi,

I require an AR35 Automatic Gearbox (from the 3.0/3.2V6's) as my AR25 is slowly getting worse (slipping and erratic)

Not too far from West Midlands would be good  :y (but not essential)

Thanks

I have an AR35 out of a 3L Carlton.  Don't know if its suitable but its free if you want it, but you will have to collect from South Devon.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

Hi,

I'm not sure either! Hopefully someone will see this and will know. I would definitely be interested if it's in good working order  :y

Thanks

You could try the search function to see what results that throws up or you could start a new topic in omega general help,I'm sure a member on here was after putting the AR35 from a Senator/Carlton into his Omega. One difference is the Senator/Carlton box has a dipstick/filler tube where the Omega hasn't and I'm fairly certain that something just above the main gearbox sump needed changing in some way. HTH :y

I vaguely recall the selector being different... Was it Terbert or Shackeng? :-\

'T'was me. The electrics are slightly different, and the selector is on the wrong side. I had modified the electrics, which involved enlarging one of the socket holes, and rewiring the internal connections, but before I could fit the selector to the other side, I sold the TD estate which was the intended recipient, so let the box go with it. I believe it could have been done, but would require the selector shaft from an Omega box, as I doubt if the flat on the shaft would be correct when reversed. :y
PS I still have the Carlton box ECU if someone needs one.

Thanks for the information. I think it would be easier to try and get an Omega AR35 as this all sounds quite complicated!

Hi.I've got one here you can have for free if you want it.A couple of snags however are the car it came out of had 200k on the clock and it had a hesistation under acceleration which may or not had been gearbox related but not investigated.
Cheers John.

My Carlton AR35 was reputed to be recently reconditioned before I acquired it years ago with a view to fitting it to my Omega, which has now long gone.   It was stored in my dry garage for a good number of years but for the last 6 months it has been stored outside but with overhead cover.  As such I cannot guarantee its condition but can provide photos of its external condition.  I fully understand if this makes it of limited interest.

It just seems quite a complication to fit them to the Omega. Thanks for the offer though  :y
