I'm sure he has a car license, it looks like he wanted one for trucks. A man of his means and ability would surely pass a test after lessons.

One of us is not reading the article right. He had a fake Irish license. On the basis of that, he acquired a full UK license - which he shouldn't have had at all. That's the way I read it.

One of us is not reading the article right. He had a fake Irish license. On the basis of that, he acquired a full UK license - which he shouldn't have had at all. That's the way I read it.
This is the bit that made me think..........."Martin wanted to add to other driving categories, such as lorries, according to The Sun."

But, I guess, that could mean he was trying to add categories to a fake license, so you're probably right.

Not necessarily...
Suppose not, as long as he doesn,t  drive on the highway.
