Seems they've been busy selling all sorts of shares globally today.  :-\

According to many comments on the message boards it's down to BREXIT, which is not bad for an insignificant speck in the North Atlantic to cause a world wide stock market crash!  :)

I know you jest, but to prove the point...

Being an insignificant spec, notice how that although it had a significant impact on the country - including online sales - nobody beyond those countries affected (O2 UK were not the only ones affected) even noticed.

The shenanigans at a Chinky network hardware supplier has caused more impact to global markets.

But BT/openreach (who ever is responsible for the network etc) should have known before now about the security vulnerability issues with the hu**ei tech  and delt with it much sooner , other countries did

GG have made a fund available (doesn't say much tho!) that you either have a share credit to your account as airtime credit or donate it to charity (doesn't say which one!)

Quite TB, but I think you miss the point in that people were blaming BREXIT for the global stock market slide.  If BREXIT was to cause a global crash it would somewhat disprove your opinion of the UK as a little speck.

As the single market does not extend to mobile telecoms I doubt that many of us have noticed when a German, French, or Italian mobile companies data services have gone tits up, which I'm sure they do from time to time  You possibly would know as it's your field, but it wouldn't register to most people, in the same way that O2's problems havn't been noticed by most of the world, where they would just say "What's O2";)

The reason for yesterday's dip was the arrest of the CFO of Huawei in Canada. She is the daughter of the founder and China threw a complete wobbler. It's the US/CHINA situation that has people worried, not this small island.

Are you referring to the O2 SNAFU? That was sod all to do with Huawei or BT or Openreach.

O2 is wholly owned by Spanish telco Telefonica, and outsource some of the infrastructure to other companies, including Swedish firm Ericsson who made a bit of a cock up.

I just looked at a picture (on the internet, so it must be true)of a BT engineer ripping important looking wires from Huawei box things, and put 2 and 11 together and made 7  :P

BT's mobile network, better known as EE, does use Huawei kit, and did before BT bought EE.  BT have suggested that they will remove Huawei kit from the "core network*", most likely due to the political suspicions around Huawei's links with the Chinese government.

* There is much more that just the core network, and I haven't heard BT/EE say they are gong to remove kit from other parts of the network.

Huawei is a massive company, with its fingers in every part of the network at many level. If you have an older FTTC type internet with any ISP (the type that was engineer fitted by Openreach), there is a good chance that you have an Huawei "Openreach Modem" router.  The other type used, less commonly, was from Israeli company ECI.

All this problem with internet connections is down to me :-[ :-[!!

Yesterday morning I turned down help offered by an African sounding gentlemen who said he was from BT Openreach and stated they had received reports about my internet speed dropping dramatically over the last few days.  I listened to his request to turn on my PC to carryout a check on the speed, but when I pointed out he should know that already if he was who he claimed to be, and said to him "so fxck off you filthy scammer" he strangly rang off!! :o

Perhaps I should have done what he was asking and then the system wouldn't have broken down?! ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

Not for reasons of security ;)

Actually, people like to dis Windows, but the NT line has always been pretty secure. Certainly as secure as anything else.

Like most things, its the organic interface that buggers things up.

I have had very few issues with windows , had some issues but just rip out the hard drive, format it and fresh install it with all the updates,
I do have to check my mum's PC every time i see her, she does share links on friendface and download all sorts of browser add on shyte that i promptly delete ,but she is 75 ,too old to beat any sense into her . ;D

windows 10 seems remarkably forgiving ,(but then there have been some major updates ,which they don't call service packs, but take ages ,IIRC one update pretty much replaced all the O/S in the early days) ???

As for the Ebay tat , too late, I have multiple orders late, from supposedly UK sellers, who obviously are not, and sending the tat direct from  China, then getting tracked UK courriers to deliver the last leg.
I just wish Ebay sellers where just honest  :D ;D
