They will be real hard core if they are still training in -45degC in the USA mid-west. ::) ::) ::)

Coldest I've known my wife's family to suffer in Ukraine is -35degC which did damage or kill a number of trees on their smallholding including walnuts.

I've never been below -19C (ignoring windchill), which was on top of Mount Brackley about 10yrs back.  Cold enough it froze my water meter on several occasions.

I tend not to feel the cold, but I remember that year, when the wind blew on your face, it stung.
