Had some here in the center of the known universe ,roads are all gritted ,and i had to go emergency patch a roof ,driving my omega  :( which is now covered in salty water
fingers crossed the omega does not completely rot way during the night, leaving my tools on the road, surrounded by iron oxide  :-\
hopefully the snow will wash away instead  ;D

Hey Ho.

Ronny. Good luck with your journey to pick up your new motor. Hope you are pleased with it.

Ps is it a form of popemobile by any chance........ given your new status.

About an inch in Yeovil - and traffic is gridlocked getting into town. I scampered up the hill in me mega (got snow tyres  :D) past all the 4WD mummy busses doing the school run scrabbling for grip.

I had to... use the wipers :o to clear the windscreen of fluff when I got in the car after work yesterday evening  ;D

Joking aside, the north downs between Pitch Hill and Reigate Hill are about the only place in the south east that reliably get snow as they're all knocking on 1,000 feet.

As you know, we overlook the south downs here, and no sign on the north facing slopes opposite :y

I just had an "interesting experience" while trying to defrost my 190.
Started it up and while it was warming up, grabbed a can of de icer and sprayed it all over the windows to melt the frozen snow.
While using it I decided it was the shitest de icer I had ever used, as it was having no effect at all.
I then looked closer at the can and discovered it was Liquid snow chains !  :-[  :-[ :o ;D
I vaguely remember buying a can of this stuff in the summer because it was cheap, and thought it might be interesting to see what it does when we get some snow. Its now going in the bin.
It was all over the windows like very big, very sticky bogeys and took nearly two hours to get off.
Had to use an ice scraper to scrape the thicker lumps off, then rags soaked in petrol to wipe the residue off, then clothes soaked on warm soapy water - then repeat several times.
Shut up STEMO.  :P :P ;D

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think you probably did yourself a favour. If you'd have used it for the intended purpose, it would have ended up in places where you couldn't remove it. One wheel spin and you'd have caked the wheel arch liner and wings in globs of liquid putty.

Tee hee...pillock  ;D.

So just a lot of hype by the southern softee press.

What we had Tues evening settled on car (and grass etc), then promptly froze solid.

Got bored scrapping it within 2mS, so started them up, and went in for a brew.

All defrosted when I went back out :y

Got home from a hospital appointment with the kids just as the wet sleet started.

Stood indoors and commented that it wouldn't settle.

An hour later about 3 inches had settled but was melting fast. Then it got dark and started freezing again. The problem in Cornwall is that it rains a lot but doesn't often freeze so most of the grit that is spread on the road is washed away before it has any chance to do it's job.

It hit Cornwall just before people started heading home and it looks like there are hundreds stuck on Bodmin Moor and other high ground who won't get home tonight.

Meanwhile at a beach somewhere in Cornwall

Had about 2" overnight, and it was snowing all morning, but at about the same rate it was melting, so stayed about 2" until a couple of hours ago.

Its started to melt now, can now see the tips of the grass, and tarmac underneath footprints in the snow.

When I went out to post a letter, my end of the road was like a bloody ice rink - I must have looked a right spaz, as I was arms and legs everywhere, but manged not to go A over T.

Still snow covering my back garden.  So much for the promises it would all be gone by lunchtime :(

The road is still like a skating rink as well.

The snow was mostly gone by yesterday evening, and today was a nice sunny winter afternoon as I walked home from the quarter peal. But having just got home from taking the repaired christmas tree back to my sister, there's been a sudden frost as all the roads are white

Just popped out to put something in bin, and its bloomin' cold out there, far lower than the -2C the thermometer suggests. Guessing its a bit on the wind, but the trees are barely moving.

Only about a cm left in the back garden.  The front garden has had the sun on it all day, and has mostly gone, but the road still has compacted ice/snow on it, so will be slippery in the morning.

I'm sure the forecast was for 8C tonight. Clearly they got that wrong :D

Quite mild here, actually. Just drove up in the Omega and the MID reckoned it was -19.5, however. :D

Another job. ::)

Thanks for the offer. As it happens, though... It appears that the temperature reading is fine when the front fogs are not on. It's very unusual that I use the front fogs but I found them quite useful for a bit of extra illumination last night when trying to avoid patches of ice. Turns out that the temeprature plummets whenever the fogs are on. I'm guessing the two share a chassis ground somewhere. :-\

Under the battery iirc... Certainly upstream of the bumper electrickery connector.  ;)

Looking at the schematics, I think the fog lights and temerature sensor share a 4 pin connector onto the front bumper so maybe that's where the issue is.
Temperature sensor is two wire twisted pair back to the MID, as might be expected, so it's not directly connected to a ground.

I have recently been wrestling in that area to replace the bonnet latch and the headlamp washer pump, so could be that the connector has been disturbed.

Failing that, the MID and fromt fogs both seemt o use that ground point under the battery, so worth having a look at that.

Once I've welded up the hole in the floorpan, figured out why switching to LPG drops cylinder number 2, etc. etc.. ::)

Yes , the front fogs and outside temp sensor is the same loom that plugs in N/S
I have a spare loom if you get stuck ,but probably just water in the plug or a rubbed wire ,grounding out .

Bumper loom is a separate loom plugged outboard on the n/s chassis rail... Readily accessible on ramps up and back from the n/s fog light. Washer plumbing is a mixture of hardwired from relay box and a plug in the cavity beneath the battery tray ;)

The bulk of the MID wiring is regular 0.5 guage wire, but is hard wired through the bulkhead iirc ;)

Gixer had exactly that issue on that same cylinder.  LPG loom, as you might have already guessed.

Well, my ear-on-a-stick tells me the injector is firing, just not the cylinder. I think the injector is fubar.

.. and when I looked at the injector I remembered it is Gixer's old set on there after the previous Valtek set started getting a bit lumpy. ;D
