Black Circles 😡😡😡
« on: 01 March 2019, 19:01:49 »

Emailed these guys to confirm if I order their tyres will they be new as opposed to ones made a while ago. Chap said yes, they’re usually same year (that we are in) if not newer.

So my four “new” tyres arrived this morning. 42nd week of 2016.

Yeah they’re an odd size (225/55/16) but surely when you purchase new tyres that is what you should get. Or should I fit them and shut up ?

They will be fine but they were  probably  dumped in a muddy field a couple of years ago. :)

Thanks for input guys.

Thing is part of the reason I got new tyres was because mine are very old and very perished. And they’re rock hard. I don’t want these to be shit in a relatively short space of time. I don’t care about the money. I just want my new tyres to be new lol

Lol I thought they were!

But they sold you old tyres, which I suppose that would follow when they are offering "cheap" tyres.

When I say reputable I mean they have their own tyre centres where you can check the tyres before you pay for them. ;)

They are new. ::)

I would wager that they are no 'older' than any parts you buy from Vauxhall...

I totally get what you’re saying dg. It puts me in mind of timing belts for example ie you buy a new timing belt that may have been on the shelf for ages. However I specifically asked before ordering. They’ve given me duff info.

My boss bought his from cam skill a month ago. His are late 2018. I fitted two tyres for a customer today. Jan 19! So I don’t think I’m being unreasonable. But I’m sure I’ll hear otherwise from their complaints team!

Also, it depends on the brand as well as the size... As some are either made in smaller batches or sell quicker and different firms will keep different stock levels according to sales contracts etc, so I really wouldn't read too much into it tbh ;)

As an example, let's say three years ago you persuaded your local corner shop to buy your home made chili sauce. They agreed to buy 200 jars because it tastes phenomenal and chili sauce is all the rage. Unfortunately they only sell 40 jars a year because you live in a retirement village and they don't understand anything more complicated than gravy. Three years later, they still have 80 jars of 'new' chili sauce and they won't order any more until it's almost sold out :y

Has you chosen a different brand from Black circles, you might have received 'newer' or 'older' tyres. Buying best selling brands from a trade supplier such as Camskill might have guaranteed two week old tyres...

As you made it clear that you wanted NEW tyres, not tyres over two years old, you have a legitimate complaint.
They put dates on tyres for a reason, and could be an MOT failure if too old, yes?

No .....  ;) There isn't (up to now) an age limit on tyres

you're making a simple thing like buying tyres stupidly complicated:

Your quoted size isn't an odd one

Tyres are a common consumable part and are available from several suppliers in every small town, who operate a drive in, supply and fit, then drive out service. They get them from the same wholesaler, so prices are very similar. With that in mind, WHY would you involve another unattached layer to supply you, and then have to pay someone else to fit them?

Being supplied a 2 year old part, that deteriorates over time is unsatisfactory even if you wear out tyres at the appalling rates that are commonly mentioned here. You didn't buy them from a local bricks and mortar retailer, so you've complicated the complaints procedure too.

Send them back at Black Tyres expense, and buy them locally from someone who cares about your business.
