Ive got a couple of 2TB WD Elements USB Drives, never had any issues with them, having said that I am paranoid about Back Ups, and more to the point Backing Up my Back Ups, most of my Last Resort Baks are Cloud Based, more than one Provider.
Think I would agree, and if going on your Travels just use a Cloud Solution, unless you really do need to shift tons of Data around on a daily basis.
The Big 3 all work well, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Onedrive can be a bit of an arse if using Win10 due to way its needs to Sync itself with the PC, you need the same Free Space on your PC plus more as your OneDrive allowance in order to upload stuff without user intervention, but even then its bloody slow, infact your probably use up your 12 months subscription before you manage to upload a couple of TB's, I do use OneDrive but I use a URL Uploader or an Uploader that breaks the Files into Packets but we wont bother too much about that now.
Another Provider that I highly rank is pCloud, a Swiss / German based Cloud Service, quiet fast, good for all Devices the Cloud Space can be Mounted as a Virtual Drive on you PC, has some nice features, like URL Uploading as well as an Archive Folders so it will automatically grab and store any Google, OneDrive etc Services you have, they also do some Lifetime Plans 500gb or 2TB, not cheap, but if your serious about Cloud Storage and keeping your Data safe worth considering.
Stay away from all the unknown Cheap or Free Cloud Services offering you loads of Terabytes for next to nothing, and stay away from the eBay Sellers offering Google or OneDrive accounts for a few quid, there all Uni Accounts from across the Globe and could get nuked tomorrow.
