Was out this evening giving my car a hoover out and noticed that the accelerator pedal was a bit on the slack and loose side. I continued to hoover and I was contemplating what the slack pedal meant.
I got someone to sit in the car with foot hard to the floor on the accelerator pedal while I checked the cable at the throttle bodies. There was a fair bit of slack in the cable, not including the spring portion at the pedal end.
I decided to remove the accelerator pedal and try bending it a little to take up the slack as there was nothing to be seen to adjust it out.
After removing three twist clips the sound deadening trim slid out andthe pedal mount was clear to see.
It was easy to free the cable from the top end of the pedal, its just a grommit that slips out.
After some slight twisting in the vice to increase the bend of the pedal then it was all put back together again. I made sure that I didn't bend the pedal assembly too much otherwise the spring tension mechanism at the cable end would be overcome and the enging would race when started - meaning the throttle bodies would be moved open as the cable would now be too short.
Result? Car seems crisper on full throttle, but dunno whether real or imagined!! Increases could well be real and would be interested to find out what others think.
