Question for Captainzok
« on: 15 September 2006, 11:14:34 »

Did you bid on a cam locking kit on ebay yesterday (thursday)

Cos you outbid me, but 2 mins after the auction ended i received a 2nd chance offer as the highest bidder couldnt complete the transaction!!

What i want to know is the seller trying to pull a fast one or have you realy not been able to pay for it???

You'll maybe find that the seller actually had more than one kit, but didn't advertise as such. Sometimes I think that this method increases the interest in the item, thereby raising the price through competition, and allowing second chance offers which may have attracted a better price than if selling multiple items.
Just my opinion though.

Well I didn't pay last night but I will be paypalling today, Haven't informed seller as his listing says 7 days to pay. I think he's trying to sell 2 for the price of 1 ebay listing.

this is a scam, ask the seller and ebay. i bid on some software and was contacted this way it turned out to be a scam not involving the original seller rather someone saw i was the next highest bidder and tried to rip me off, with ebay if its in any way suspicious its always a scam so stay away.

I've had second chance offers and it's not been a rip off. But you never know

I frequently only list 1 item if I have multiples, as it tends to get a better price that way, and offer a couple of 2nd chances to non winning bidders.

For example, I used to sell modified 5861 ADSL routers (used to refurb and upgrade the flash to 2Mb so it could run later firmwares). If I listed as 3 seperate, used to get around £50 each. List 1 and offer other 2 as 2nd chance, I'd usually get around £75 for 1st an d £70 each for other 2.

This is perfectly within ebay's rules, and is a seller trick of (usually) getting a better price.
