Agreed... Fitted a pattern one to mine, lasted about two months... Replaced with the original one and no further issues...

What engine?  Generally bombproof on the older engines, 2.6 and 3.2 ones are usually unreliable.

In all cases, I'd suggest a GM or a genuine Bosch from a reputable supplier (ie, not ebay, amazon marketplace, ecp, or backstreet shops)

It's a 2.6.

Will try a used one, as can't run to a Bosch one at present.

The 2.6/3.2 ones misread with age. Sorry, for that reason I can't recommend a used one :(.  2.5/3.0, its OK to use used, as they are ultra reliable. Sadly, 2.5/3.0 ones don't fit the 2.6/3.2 :(

No.

As said, GM or genuine Bosch (which means not ebay/amazon mp/ECP etc etc)

What's wrong with Lucas ?

Has a 3 year warranty and been making electrical components since they were invented !

Think of it as replacing a dead Gm V6 with a Rover Kv6 rather than another Gm v6... It migut be broadly similar,  but it's simply not the same ;)

What changed about the new ones to make them less reliable? Just out of interest.

Has anyone ever known anything electrical made by Lucas to last ;D

Like those shite exhausts made by the likes of Bosal, the hope is you lose the receipt before you need to claim on warranty ;)
