Wanted . Towing eye.

Checking the spare wheel today I was reminded that I seem to have no towing eye in the tool carrier .
Anyone got one ?

I think I have a spare one somewhere. Might be a few days before I can hunt it down though!

Correct , it's an estate and is fitted under the MV6 towing eye cover . I completely forgot about that . :-[

The only oddity is on estates with Irmscher rear bumper from new...

There's an adapter the bolts to the chassis mounted towing eye to allow a screw in towing eye to be used... Mostly for cosmetic purposes... One 1.5" hole in the bumper rather than a separate flap :y

Screw in towing eyes are best considered for cosmetic purposes only. They are often missing. If they've been used before, they're usually bent. If they haven't been used then the female threads are rusted to hell. If you do manage to screw the damn thing in using your breaker bar for leverage, then you can't be surprised if the spot welds break and you pull most of the front of the car off.


BMW insist on a security strap around a suspension arm when using them for winching their warranty work. But if you're doing that, you might as well use it for the entire job, and not worry about the bumper no longer fitting.
