EML on wifey's new astra
« on: 10 March 2018, 13:36:37 »

Took the student to Bradford for his backgammon tournament. On the way back, the front wheels spun a bit on a hill start......road was damp. ESC and EML Lights on followed by much bonging and chiming telling me that engine power had been reduced. Parked up and switched off and on, ESC light disappeared but EML stayed on. After I'd pulled over a few times to upset phone wifey, Vauxhall garage and Uncle Tom Cobley, the EML went out. Must have needed a few stop/starts.
Anyway, it's booked in for half eight Monday morning for Vauxhall to take a look (and update the intellilink). Missus will take my car to work and me and doggie will have to hoof it.
Fickin modern contraptions........ :(

Electrics don,t like damp/wet. We live in a temperate climate. What could possibly go wrong. ;D

I certainly will. Its the only way to go.  :y
I would still do it even if I was rich, just for the pleasure of depriving spreadsheet Phil of a few quid.  ;D

No idea, Jon, but change of plan anyway. Mrs has got to go to a residential Monday night, so there's no way I'm not having a car for two days. EML is off, so......... :-\

Might be cheaper to drive to Nottingham and have Fuse19 Tech 2 it. At least he would actually know what he was doing, which isn't that likely at a VX dealer.

Pedal trick might work...

Either way, you have just bought a near new car from a dealer... Fixing it is their problem  ;)

Any Vauxhall dealer will do, and my local one was quite willing to help.

Here's her old one if you want it:

http://www.evanshalshaw.com/search/VehicleDetails/used-car-renault-captur--manual-diesel-blue-hatchback-YP65OUV/

I quite like the look of them to be honest.  :o  :D

Although that advert with the wealthy couple going off to their beach house for a shag, makes it look like the size of a Range Rover.  ::)

So it was a bit of a let down when I realised the Captur was more the size of a Fiesta!  :(  ;D

It's bigger than a fiesta, and much higher off the ground. Mo enjoyed driving it and was quite sad to see it go, but needs must. The bright red astra made her feel a bit better about the captur going.

Is that because it uses CANbus?

I thought there was a CAN adapter for Tech2 :-\

No, as of the Insignia, Astra J etc. GM switched to the MDI interface.

That said a standard OBD reader will pull codes.

CANdi is the adapter for Tech2, which allows Tech2 to work with Vectra-C/Signum, Astra-H and Corsa (-D?).

As Marks DTM says, Insignia onwards moved to PC based MDI
