Title: 05 plate omega
Post by: omegapioneer on 30 July 2018, 07:14:59
Hi there just bought another omega and was surprised to find its registered March 05 is that rare. I haven't seen a 05 omega before. It's 2.2 manual gls and did a great run home of over 500 miles without any problems at all. Now parked between my 03 elite estate and my 97 2.5td elite auto.

Rare indeed  8)

Previously the only confirmed '05 Omegas were literally a couple of Thames Valley Police saloons...

There was a red 05 plate omega on ebay a few weeks back, did not sell IIRC
As production ended in 2003 it is rare to get a 2005 registered one
It may have sat unregistered for many different reasons
I remember going to look at an 1995 N reg Carlton, thinking great, must be good nick being "newer"
It was rotten as a pare and ran like a dog
Hopefully, yours is not so
As opel made such a bad job of rust proofing the omegas , may be wise to add your own rust  countermeasures
that is what i'm doing on my late 2003 reg 2.6 at the moment
Good luck with your new purchase  :)

The one I have is red 05 and had been relisted because of problems in sale. I drove it home and drives absolutely perfect not pulling or pitching about. Had it on the lift and underneath has to be one of the cleanest omegas I've seen and back arches are mint no rust at all. Only down side is some stone chips and marks from shopping trolley

None are  "Newer", all the late ones will be manufactured in 2003 (think you can check by one of the VIN number numbers)
they just did not get registered till later  ;D

I know that , just referring to the plate certainly don't need educating on when they were built.😎

Now that's a good day to have a birthday!  8)  ;)  :y

It also means that your Omega is a Taurus Lizzie.  Is it loyal, earthy, passionate and incredibly sexy?  ???  :)

Flying to Spain to drive omega home be a bit much. Flying over to Bristol and picking car up in Taunton and driving home to omagh. Flights fuel sailing from cainryan adds to the price of car. But worth the effort for a solid low like car.

Thanks for the info Lizzie  :)
I don't have any friends at the main stealers
hopefully, it was built about the same time as yours, not that it matters too much
I'm gradually rust proofing it all, as I did my Carlton

thanks for the info TB
