Spare wheel restraining strap
« on: 20 July 2006, 09:25:04 »

OK, dumb ass question.

How does the spare wheel restraining strap thread through the buckle on the saloon.

Not sure if its me being stupid, or a stonking hangover, but I can't get it to hold...

It pushes through the front over bottom leg, then loops from the back over the top leg then pulls against the toothed leg.

Still not quite sure I understand. Anyone got a piccy that shows it?

(and I must have done this a number of times, why can't I do it today)

Push strap through top slot from back feed through bottom slot from front, pull hard, job done. Holds on mine.

I am glad that you have asked this question as I cannot figure it out either!  ;D

Got the spare on at the moment and need to replace a tyre on one of the alloys owing to a bl***y builders screw on the road >:(

Should I start a thread "which tyre is best for my omega"? ;D

If anyone has a pic of the strap done up correctly, that would be great.

Fed the strap behind the serated edge, up through top hole, then through hole below, then between serated edge and strap. Pull tight.

Piccy...

ok on the other side of the boot is the compartment for the first aid kit. Now as well as the first aid kit I have about 240 other small items in their as well.

but the door never stays up, it sort of sags a bit so the two top clips do not function and then just falls open. Still does it if I empty contents of.

Anyone had the same problem and come up with a remedy?

It sounds to me as if the catches that hold the compartment closed are week.  Suggest obtaining another compartment door from a scrappy if possible.  Not sure how the door is attached to the boot lining though.

The Boy....

Cheers for the pic - that will be another job I can tick off the list! ;D

That lot fits in the middle of wheel. Behind wheel is loads more space, I just can't think of anything to put there.

Other side, toolkit/mini socket set/bulb kit/triangle in toolkit compartment, and first aid kit/cargo net/inverter in first aid compartment....
