My estate is worse than i first thought CD v6 , i am probably calling it a day with this car as my elite saloon passed no problem.
What is best to do with the estate MOT runs out June 21st although its now failed , what is scrap value .its driveable.
I will salvage some bits for elite along with recent purchases.
-
IIRC Terry got about £180 scrap off an internet scrap car buyer collected
depends what you take off, the price could drop
or,take whatever you like off, ask on OOF if anyone needs parts ,then get it dragged off by a cash for scrap car man local
as you have another omega ,plan B may work out better
but sods law dictates the one part you leave on will fail on your other omega a week AFTER the estate goes ::)
-
Thats bound to happen ;D
If i took things like the odd switch .radio etc spare wheel, jack would that affect scrap price?

I doubt it. It will be bought for its weight in scrap metal, as they wont keep it hanging around the yard to sell the parts, as hardly anyone will want them.
Might be interested in the front windscreen trim and hazard switch if in good nick. :)
-
Does trim come off easy ,hazard switch I can remove ,I'll contact before final day ???
-
Windscreen trim should prise off easily. :y
-
If it's a 2.5/3.0L keep the down-pipes, also take the headlight level sensors off. Unless you have the room to break it properly.
-
It's 2.6 BG still keep sensors? Easy to remove? Cheers Paul
-
Yes leveling sensors.
Is this an Elite? If so is it leather and what colour?
-
Yep keep the level sensors. Havent removed one for a few years, but they aren't held on by much more than a couple of small bolts or screws.
If you remove quite a few small useful parts, you could make as much from selling them as you get for the rest of the car in scrap. :y
In fact, if I were you I would advertise it on here as breaking for parts, then in a month or so, sell the remains for scrap. ;)
-
CD wont have levelling sensors...
(Or have I misunderstood which car failed)

Fixed into bottom, look for a 6 wire plug, with two tags. I

Head in the footwell, shine a torch up where the glovebox came from, and follow BG,s info above.

Managed to unplug thanks 4 wires together and 2 other separate ones ,can't seem to unplug them any ideas please?

Thank you all once again this is OOF working at its best so glad I've still got the saloon cheers Paul

Don't forget your scrapping it, so if something is a bastid to unplug just cut through the wires. ;)

At least you know why it was so cheap...
