Why do little jobs....
« on: 05 June 2007, 23:18:49 »

...grow into bigger ones?

Thought I would fit some +50 bulbs to the project estate tonight, just pushing the connectors back onto the drivers side bulb and CRACK went the horizontal adjuster.

Pause for some Anglo Saxon words.

Move onto the passenger side but being much wiser now I made sure that I had a good grip of the bulb holder assy when pushing on the connectors. It saved the horizontal adjuster but the vertical one is already broken.

Time to order-in some fresh cyano.  :(

I have some projectors in the garage, need cleaning on both sides of the lenses. No idea what state the adjusters are in - how do I check?

Take the rubber caps off the back and gently try to move the lamps around, if the adjusters are broken it will wobble about in either vertical or horizontal plane....most likely both.

If the units are off the car you can peer inside to check for breaks / cracks in the adjusters, they are on the other end of the metal rods to the white gears

I've only ever done 2 jobs assosiated with my headlights. As I changed a side lamp the f***er fell out of the holder into the b'stard headlamp and then when I came to change the other at a different time I too found the the horizontal adjuster was Donald Ducked  :(  I was flavour of the day cos SWMBO had plans for the day but I took all afternoon to 'change a lamp!!'  ::)  ::)
