Alternators - differences?
« on: 02 November 2015, 11:33:10 »

After a bit of research on here I find that the PFL and FL alternators seem to be different. there seems to be some faff or issue with fitting a FL alternator with black plastic rear to PFLs... the terminals are different, it seems? Can anyone either confirm this, or indeed tell me how little/much is involved in fitting said later alternator to an earlier car.

I've basically got offer of an alternator, for very little money, which I was going to replace the bearings of, clean/repaint/smarten up, and fit. But if it's a bit of a no-no, then I'll just have to do the same on my own alternator, it will just cost a bit more time.

Cheers. My car's still stuffed after the accident but my mind is already wandering onto fixing little rattles, squeaks and noises!  ::)
