Omega General Help / Running issues, diagnostic advice needed
« on: 02 November 2016, 20:25:56 »
Trying to help out one of our brethren Tony who has long running issues with his 2.5, it's had new plugs, leads and dis pack but the following persists , in his own words:

"The symtoms are as follows, missfire under light throttle. (seem harder to start from cold in the last week) running seems to  slightly improve as the engine warms up, when  driven hard the "miss" seems to clear and the firing is normal until desired cruising speed is reached them as the throttle is backed off the "miss" returns. mpg has taken a beating down to 13 MPG around town"

I have the unmentionable diagnostic device and have no intention of using it for programming but am happy to look at any monitors/values to try and narrow down what may be wonky so would be grateful if you guys could advise what we need to look at and what the normal values would be, lambda switching , fuel trims and anything else useful etc

General Car Chat / New car coming, you'll hate it
« on: 29 October 2016, 15:30:16 »
Wifey's Fiesta is getting long in the tooth and I'm able to get some really decent 2 yr lease deals through my new employer so have decided to get her a brand new VW Golf Tsi Bluemotion....with a 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder petrol engine  :o.....it does have a turbo though and put's out a heady 115 bhp. Reviews are surprisingly good for it  :)

It was a toss up between this and an Audi A1 TFSI sportline which looks great but is too small to be practical.

Start the p*ss taking now please chaps ;D

General Discussion Area / Leasing is getting tempting
« on: 23 August 2016, 19:32:39 »
I'm hoping to be "tuped" into the NHS in the near future, a hypothetical conversation regarding getting lease cars occurred in the office which I poo poo'd until this offer was discovered, I'm not a big fan of them but this 3 series is looking a right laugh for a 2 yr lease

General Car Chat / Anyone after a DTI?
« on: 14 August 2016, 09:33:27 »
Kind of a for sale ad but not definite and hope I don't offend the pedants ;D

I break DTI's regularly and pick them up through the trade,I'm likely to be picking up a 52 reg blue saloon in the next couple of days, one woman owner, 140k full dealer history, 4 new tyres,4 keys, new front brakes with MOT till Oct. Looks extremely tidy from the few pic's I've seen.

I do have a conscience though, and this up to now, this is looking far too good to break so should anyone have been looking for one and want's to express an interest i'd be looking at £500 as all told that's where it would stand me after breaking and selling the parts/shell/tyres etc.

I'll be setting upon it pretty quickly as I have an order for the gearbox already but either way it'll be available whole or in bit's

General Discussion Area / Message for H21
« on: 20 July 2016, 14:06:01 »
H21 sent me his number r.e getting some wheels up to Glasgow but I deleted the PM ::),

If someone can get a text to him can they let him know the chap bringing them has been delayed and won't hit Glasgow until 8pm, I believe another member here was picking them up that should have the guy that's bringing them up's number.

Reads like utter nonsense I know but should make sense !

I'm supplementing my meagre income by breaking when the opportunity arises and not doing too badly with manuals particularly so if there are any knocking about North west ish and ready for the knackers yard I'd appreciate a shout.
