Drove it to a speed awareness course. And back again.

Oooh, that must have hurt.  ;D  Still, as you didn't take the piss out of me when I did mine I won't laugh ........ Oh, hang on a minute, you did.
It does work you know, I've only been caught twice since my course, it could have been much worse.  ::)

It continues to leak a little oil. Can't see where from, but think the crank sensor seal might be the issue.  Anyone know the part number?

Possibly try 90307502. It's the only seal listed seperately from the sensor itself.

Now that has made me laugh ;D

The ironic thing about the timing of mine is I bought the Jaaaaggggg to slow down.  The Silver Bullet was a delight to drive, and just encouraged me to drive a little too quick at times.  The XJ is most definitely not a drivers car, with the driver feeling somewhat detached from the road, and I hoped that would help (and it has).  And then I get the bloody NIP :@

Drove it to Nottingham.  Set out with less than an 8th of a tank to do the 80 miles, but being the reformed character I am, made it there without needing to stop for fuel.

Whilst there, DTM and I were giving an interesting "challenge". Afterwards I scoffed his toasted cheesies, and fitted a replacement IAM to the Jaaaggg.

I did have to get fuel to get home though.

Many, many thanks to that DTM fella, I am looking forward to getting some tunes back in the car, and having the Nav working again, not having to rely on a poxy mobile.  But most important, I can now link the phone back into the system.

I kicked off the map update on the way home, and kept prodding it when I got home (it takes just shy of 3hrs, and the infotainment has to be on), and it looked to have completed successfully by the time I got back from fireworks and curry.  It then needs to be off for 20mins to proper reinitialise and cold reboot, so should be ready to go when I go out later (y)

Thanks to Tunnie for spending time on code scanning and resetting fault codes on the Phaeton - much appreciated.

Some issues date from a service visit to the main dealer in August when no work was carried out on the electrics at all. A week later the entertainment system failed. A re-programme sorted everything out but the fault codes remain so pursuing this with Phaeton users forum in first instance

The ABS light has started coming on again on the BMW.  >:(

Noticed a damp carpet in the passenger footwell.

Cleared scuttle drain. >:(

Put it in the garage with a fan heater in the footwell.

No problem, concerning though error code dates match dealer service.  :-\
