Title: 3.2 timing and belt tensoon
Post by: gazzap on 24 August 2019, 17:32:20
evening everyone, hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this issue im having, i brought a timing kit from gates for my 3.2 v6, and found out there are 3 diff types, the type i have is the one with a short backplate and come's with 3 tensioner pully's, i would add pics but i have no idea how  :( the haynes manual only shows the tension sequence for the 2.5/3.0, does anyone know if the belt tension sequence (and amount of tension) is the same for all the kits? no matter the location of the idler pulley ? as mine is higher than the one in the Haynes book, hope that makes sense, cheers

use the backplate from your cars 2 top idlers if your new one is different
setting up the belt is complex
you could just buy the DVD from the OOF webshop
do you have the timing belt locking kit ?

When you buy the kit they usually ask for the engine number. That number says which kit you need.

All kits have 2 idlers and 1 tensioner pulley.

All kits are interchangeable, as long as your swap the top idler and tensioner over to your old backplate.

Full instructions on how to fit belt are on the OOF V6 Cambelt DVD. Worth £3 + postage of anyones money ;)
