Had a screen replaced on my estate by RAC auto windscreens. They removed as car was in bodyshop to have rust removed from scren apature caused by Autoglass scrathing al the paintoff two years previously. They then failed to turn up on three occasions to fit new, then causing car to run out of mot. This was just before a christmas. Insurance company instructed me to find another company who then fited scren day after contact. Still cold not get car mot,ed before christmas as dvla had shut down the system for upgrade. RAC had to pay for a hire car for me for five days over the festive period until mot stations were operating again. Got the mot fee refunded by them and a week later they went bust

I work at Essex University in Colchester so it will be in the local area. They say they are second owners and have owned it for the past twenty years

General Car Chat / Re: MOT Pass . with advisory.
« on: 29 September 2015, 18:28:22 »
My mate has his own garage and mot bay. On older cars he pops an advisory or two on with bits that are ok but look not as good as they could. He does it to keep the mot inspectorate away from the door. Places that don't put advisories onto older cars regulary get visited and checked over on all procedures. He won't let anything go that should be failed, just keps the dvla off the premises

General Car Chat / Re: Car cover
« on: 25 September 2015, 07:49:32 »
Several of the ABS lads get covers from a company called Specilised car covers. They are not cheap but are tailered to the car, not a generic size. There are several LC,s that live outside all the time under these. One bloke has had to replace his after 8 years but mainly due to the neighbours cat using one corner as a scratching post, causing it to end up shreaded
