almost certinaly a right off in eyes of insurance bods  :(

Yes... But he's not in the wrong, the other drivers insurers have accepted liability. He doesn't have a contract with them so he can push to have it repaired ;) ;)

Same situation Entwood was in a while back

Yes, absolutely. Don't let the car out of your sight until the agreement has been made to repair it. If your insurance company want to write it off tell them "thanks but no, thanks", get a quote for the work and present it to the 3rd party or his insurers.

Right. Called the Royal and Sun Alliance.

Chap has already phoned them and registered the claim - and has admitted liability in full  :y

(I was worried he might try and claim I drove into him, given damage is to the front of mine, and rear of his!)

My wife had the opposite of this a few years ago.  A dozy bugger drove into the back of her at lights (the left filter had turned green and he started moving 'cos he'd seen the cars on the left moving!) and tried to claim that she had reversed into him!

You may need to ask the repairers to use 2nd hand parts if necessary if you want to retain the mv6 look.

ie buy a 2nd hand bumper and respray it.

Further update

Had a closer look before I went to repairer.

Front bumper - mountings look broken off, the areas where the headlight trim goes in is broken on the OS, and one of the plastic brackets on the headlight assembly is broken.

As you look in behind the OS headlight, underneith it, there is a metal bar, looks structural, which looks a tiny bit rippled...

Also the HL washer is ripped off, and bumper is hanging down on the Offside.

Not happy  :'(

I am still battling with an insurance company over a liability claim, Some painters came in to where I was working to re-paint some out buildings. It was very windy and they were on price work. No vehicles were covered up or asked for to be moved at any time. It took 15 months before I had them in a position that there was no way but to admit liability. The insurance company wanted witness statments, I got them, then they wanted a valuation based on available magazines from the high street, i gave them that, then they wanted a like for like or similar valuation I gave them that. They ignored every one saying it wasnt to there guide lines, the ones I had followed. Now they want me to pay out of my own pocket to have an independant valuation done by there appointed engineer. This has been going on since April 2008, so I am seriously brassed off now. Redefining the standards?  I think not!!!!

Just had a call from the girl at the accident place, they have inspected my car, and are awaiting parts to repair it!!!

Am shocked. Didn't think the MV6 bumpers could be sourced anymore!

Just spoke to the assessor.

Car is valued at £2,500 hence why they're not writing it off.

He says they'll only repair it if they can get a like for like brand new bumper.

Can you really get MV6 bumpers new from VX?

PedroMV6 had a brand new boxed Irmscher bumper for sale, if he still has it that could make 2 happy people.

I'd rather take the 2.5k and buy it off him myself  ::) - if the ins co do have probs getting one, I may try and negotiate, as they've confirmed damage is limited to

bumper
HL washer
HL trim
Wheel arch liner
