Hi, my omega 2.6 auto have developed a slight rad leak, took it to a vauxhall dealer nearby, told me I need a new rad, cost £600, now I think this more than my car is worth, years ago (morris 1000) i bought some stuff to put into the rad to stop a leak, Is this still available and is it any good? can you buy 2nd hand radiators?

The above passed its MOT O.K., but the mechanic made some observations, namely:-Front brake pipes corroding,Rear suspension craddlearm bushes seperating, N/sf chassis heavily corroded near subframe front mounting, one or two other remarks, are these conditions worrying and/or can these be corrected..... any advice would be welcome, thanks charlieboy....

Omega General Help / cam belt renewal?
« on: 06 June 2015, 13:16:57 »
had cam belt etc done 4 years ago, (by Baz?) I think, although I still have 21,000 miles before Its recommended to replace belt (I know the 4 years is up)  Is this regarded as urgent as I go off on holiday in less than two weeks and i cant seem to be able to fit it in .... I went up to somewhere near Stoke to have it done last time.     I have checked the belt and it looks in very good condition, dry and cannot feel any cracks, but, I am a complete novice as regards engines.... any advice would be greatly appreciated, you have always helped me in the past......many thanks M Francis

thanks very much for all replies and advice, I have had another look and it appears there are two of everything, then joins up to go into this box and two exits at the back and the drivers side is the one with the hole, I must admit the rest of it looks pretty good, of course I would get a much better view underneath,    Is there a part no. for the piece of pipe i would need ? or have I given you enough info?

Omega General Help / Exhaust blowing a bit

Hi I have a 02 2.6 saloon, and have noticed a bit more engine noise especially when accelerating, normally I can hardley hear the engine,  I took it into a vauxhall dealer not much help, quoted me a complete exhast system about £1500 using Vauxhall parts, £800 or so for others.      I have limited knowledge, to say the least, had a look behind the rear wheel and can see two pipes coming out of a quite large box, and the is a hole in one of these pipes about the size of a penny almost an inch from where it comes out of the box   can anybody say if this piece of pipe can be replaced, and if so without damaging the other? I know there would be a risk of  damaging the system after several years untouched, but cant afford £1500 for complete system.... many thanks
