Carrying on from last week, new ball joint splitter arrived, so got the nearside front ball joint swapped out. Easy enough, but had to take the knuckle off the car. Did the brake hose whilst there. Also did the rear hoses and tweaked the handbrake.

Oh, and the replacement wheels arrived. Not as nice as the pictures, but they were a bit of a steal. If the old wheels looked good in the dark, with your back turned and eyes closed...  ::) then the new ones, like the car, will pass the ten yard test :D

May get them refurbished if I cba :-\ the rims are a bit scuffed, and they've already been rattle canned :-X

Blimey DG  that's a lot of work your having to do  :o

maybe you should have got something simple ,like an Omega  ;D :D

Not really, just catching up on the deferred maintenance. The front discs were on the last Mot so doing all of them made sense, and the two ball joints will fail the next one, likewise the rear brake hoses and the tyres.

Next month will be tyres and windscreen plus the OSF ball joint and a service and that will be it Mot ready.

The last two Omegas I bought for me both needed full suspension rebuilds, tyres and brakes. Which is an easy way to lose a grand. And it's been nice getting to grips with something a bit different, even if it was an insane choice :D

Finished the rubbing down and G3 scratch removing / improving on the Omega. Washed it dried it, then a coat of Meguiars ultimate something or other. All as shiny as can be now. Probably the best it will ever look.

Cleaned the sidesteps / running boards up on the Range Rover Sport, they always looked a bit pitted & stained  even after a wash so a bit of elbow grease and some Solvol Autosol  metal cleaner & they look like new again & working in glorious sunshine 😎

I presume that was the commendably rust free silver estate we saw at Brackley. At least the estates do not suffer the fatal rear suspension turret rot that goes on unseen behind the carpets on the saloons. My remaining Omega, a 1999 2.5 estate, came to me with a 10 year gap in its history while in Portugal, the coil pack strapped to the cylinder head, ablowing exhaust and a leaking clutch slave cylinder, but not too much rust. A LH exhaust manifold leak means that it was to be scrapped at MOT in April 2020, but the coronavirus has given it a new lease of life.
